Team Texas Flames #simmiecolsonclassic

I can always count on “Flame On” with young up-and-coming talented players that Marvel me so here are some of the Top Performers from 3 of their squads that played in the MS Competitive Division

TEAM TEXAS FLAMES 13U GYBC (2029)

Niyah York– is a long and athletic guard who is already showing she can handle the ball under pressure, her crossover is ahead of her years, and so is her ability to attack and finish strongly after contact. Her pull-up jumper is solid, she also read the floor played the passing lane, and handled the ball afterward to score or dish

Mya Isles- is another long and athletic guard with some scary upside yet that’s no surprise as I watched her dad star on the court around her age but here’s the deal, she understands how to use her athleticism on both ends, and her “on the ball” defense, as well as a powerful first step, are both pluses, so is her court vision

Zinleigh Brown- see evaluation here

TEAM TEXAS FLAMES 14U GYBC (2028)

Kyana Lacour was everywhere and her diving on the floor alone was #THROWBACK yet her “on the ball” defense created some problems and so did her attacking the basket to score. Solid court vision in the set as well as in the open court

Jada Bankett is yet another “long and athletic” guard who uses her athleticism on both ends. Pressure baseline to baseline is always big, especially when you have quick hands but on the flip, she attacked the basket powerfully and finished strongly

Kailey Guidry showed a very impressive first step to get to the basket, yet just as impressive was her DESIRE to go AFTA the ball off the rim. Her court vision and decision-making were solid, she even did something I love to see and that was playing the passing lane

Madison Perry also plays the passing lane well, she even handled the ball in transition after the steal yet her court vision going full speed stood out as she hit teammates in traffic. She also showed the pull-up jumper and handled the ball well under pressure

Tionna Fields is simply “long and athletic” which will always be the base and her upside is very nice because of what she showed in the paint. I foresee the “hands and footwork” becoming a problem, her rebounding and defense are strong, and she even faced the basket to get her shot off

Karneshia Smith-see evaluation here

TEAM TEXAS FLAMES 14U REGIONAL (2028)

Haleigh Bonwell is long and athletic, yeah it’s a profile I love to evaluate yet more importantly so do many college coaches and they offer next-level opportunities so her intangibles right now are “she rebounds on both ends, does a good job defending” yet here’s something huge, her timing to block, alter and deflect shots is very nice

Whitney Wilson is, you guessed it, another “long and athletic” guard, and her “poise under pressure” immediately stood out, and so did her ball handling and seeing the floor. She comprehends the simple things that will be big down the road and her deceptive first step to attack the basket os a big plus
