’21 Queens Of The Hardwood-2022 Tip Sheet

CAITLYN PANUCO

Talent is truly everywhere and I definitely saw plenty of next-level talent at the event including some unsigned seniors like Valerie Panuco-5’6 G (DC Queens Centex) who has been a defensive stopper since I’ve been watching her before she entered high school simply go off on the offensive end all tournament, dropping the mid to long-range with ease averaging double-digits for the event or her impressive teammate Daisy Rodriguez-5’9 G/F who has consistently shown she can score from anywhere on the court and play the passing lane. One of the biggest unsigned surprises was Lanie Douget-5’5 G (SA Islanders) who just filled it up offensively, especially in the clutch, and played the passing lane to perfection, one of her steals ended in a game-winner at the buzzer. Other notables from the 2021 class were her Islander teammate Kyra Self-6’0 P. Ashton Garner-5’11 PF (Texas Elite Force)

Lexi Alexander-61 PF (Austin Elite RFW) her stock continues to rise with her dominance inside the paint, be it scoring or rebounding, she is getting it done but the icing on the cake is definitely her outside shooting with the 3 ball lighting the candles

Caitlyn Panuco-5’6 CG (DC Queens Centex) pound for pound, inch for inch one of the best players in Texas you may not know about as she is a BATTLER who rebounds and is also a player that finds ways to put the ball in the basket. Her shooting, especially in the clutch is second to none but that mental toughness is just something you can’t teach

Jamyria Ramsey-5’4 PG (Austin Elite RFW) one of those “don’t blink” because you may miss something, well as fast as she is with the ball, you might miss something like trying t defend her and okay, she controls tempo, sees the floor and her midrange has been on fire yet the long-range is showing smoke too

Alex Neimeth-5’8 CG (Austin Elite RFW) watching her score in the flow has always been a treat yet I also enjoy seeing her take over offensively and watching her glide, hang in the air or use body control on the attack or create the mid to long-range jumper, under pressure, her scoring “in the clutch is just awesome”

Erica Suarez-5’7 SG (Austin Elite RFW) I enjoy watching her set the defender up ad she’s been shooting it with the best of them in every event I’ve caught her, keep in mind, “‘m looking at a multitude of players. Her form, her release, and her consistency are all good and she forces nothing

Dede Pierson (DBK Premier Sosa) let me start off with “acrobatic” and seeing her use that first step to attack and finish after contact also shows her athleticism but she plays the passing lane and has a nice jumper

Madison Parham (DBK Premier Sosa) BATTLES on both ends of the floor and watching her go after the ball every time off the rim was refreshing but so was her finishes, after contact over and over

Jillian Torres (DC Queens SA) creates her shot under pressure and elevates on her jumper, which she can drop from mid to long-range and watching her elevate on the jumper as well as when she attacks the rim and finishes looked very good

Sophie Villalobos (DC Queens SA) always plays within herself and does a great job getting hers in the flow. She sees the floor very well yet can also stretch the defense with her long-range shooting and let me not leave out her rebounding

KAYLA HERRERA

Kayla Herrera (DC Queens SA) heady player that can score, off the dribble by showing a deceptive first step or knock-down shots, from mid to long-range which she creates under pressure. Her court vision, ball-handling, and crisp passes were all on full display as well as her defense

Empress Roberts-5’8 G (Lady Pro Skills Austin 17U) locked her in at #D1 because I knew what I was looking at it and when you bring the heat on both ends the whole game, someone knowledgeable will notice. She can score mid to long, hit the stop and pop in transition, and attack from everywhere but she plays the passing; lane and comes up with steals defending which usually lead to baskets because of her speed

Ashunti Cooper-5’4 G (Lady Pro Skills Austin 17U) creates her shot, knocks down the true jumper from mid to long, attacks and finishes so strongly, and handles the ball under pressure yet she sees the floor and defends baseline to baseline

Angelique Morgan-5’7 G (Lady Pro Skills Austin 17U) does a lot silently and after you check stat sheet, she’s filled it up but she also can make noise filling it up with baskets in droves, she’s that type of player, and her shooting from outside as well as attacking are mixed together nicely

Analise Guerrero- 5’6 (Pro Skills SATX 17U that “COP” change of pace, had me lost and she does so much after it like knock the long ball down, attack and finishes or attack and dish and her seeing the floor and making the pass was among the best at the event

Ariana Guiterrez-5’10 PF (Pro Skills SATX 17U) let me set the stage, she uses her body well to finish as well as rebound and her strength stood out as well so when she showed the mid, the long-range, she definitely was a star on that stage and that mid was a pull-up jumper

Kennedy Holtermann-5’10 PF (Pro Skills SATX 17U) shot the 3 ball, rebounded on both ends and finished on putbacks as well as around the rim but her interior defense was nice, as well as her running the floor

Tse Nizhoni Morgan-6’1 P (Pro Skills SATX 17U) she’s toned up and showed power and tuned up and showed a lot more offensively like dropping the long ball as well as creating her shot off the dribble to attack the rim

KARINA ORTIZ

Karina Ortiz-5’7 G (SA Islanders) I made a special trip to catch her high school game after hearing so much about her and I left speechless, she’s a player and understands when to take a game over. She can drop the long ball, create off the dribble to attack, or hit the mid yet she sees the floor and handles the ball well under pressure

Jayden Soliz-5’5 G (SA Islanders) I’m still floating from her “floata” which is a hard shot to master yet she did a whole lot and her ability to attack the basket and finish with either hand was nice as well but the way she reacts in certain situations is something you can’t teach

Trinity Barretto-5’5 G (SA Lady Hoops Green) played the passing lane to perfection and did a good job creating her shot for the jumper as well as to attack the basket and finish, let me also add her on-ball defense was solid

Ayrana Cleveland-5’8 G/F (SA Lady Hoops Green) her athleticism just enables her to do some impressive things, she rebounds over taller players and she scores over taller players, multiple ways and she showed me that turnaround jumper again

Nesha Stephens-5’5 G (Texas Elite Lady Force) dazzling ballhandling can make defenders dizzy at times but it let her get wherever she wanted whenever she wanted so either she could drop the long ball or use her court vision to give teammates great looks

Alexandria Martinez-5’7 G (Texas Elite Lady Force) created her shot very well and her pull-up jumper was nice and accurate. She defended, she rebounded ad she played the passing lane

Aubree Davidson-5’5 CG (SA Infinity Basketball Black) she handles the ball well, in both the half and open court, and she also sees the floor but her ability to attack and finish as well as dish created easy baskets for her team

Jordan Bravo-5’10 SG (Mamba Select) saw her a few weeks ago and she showed me I didn’t see a mirage because she’s a scorer and finds ways to put the ball in the basket either mid to long, attacking or putbacks yet she also passes well for assists

Iasia Goldman-6’0 P (Mamba Select) her size, her strength, her hands and footwork, and her power combined with just bringing it on both ends was nice. She rebounded, she scored on putbacks or using nice moves inside but she also did after contact
