2021 Girlz Got Game HS Tip Sheet

After writing for national services whose primary interest was 4 or 5-star players, I just wasn’t feeling that plus I don’t like to be told what to do, this started when I was 3 or 4 years old, yet my ability to understand the numbers game which many don’t because “THERE IS NOT SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE” I went solo over a decade ago to promote Texas players because NO ONE WAS, it’s documented, so it’s always good to see new faces capable of playing at the next level or on the verge of breaking out and the next big opportunity will be at the All Eyez On Me Individual Showcase on June 11th, use that link to register and here are those already in high school from the event

2022

Audrey Griffith- did a good job not only in the 1 on 1 drill but showed she could create her shot under pressure, whether it was attacking or taking the jumper but her ability to “catch and shoot” the jumper was one of the best at the event

Zeta Jenkins– she stands over “the magic number” which is 6’0, showed good hands and footwork, finished after contact, well her college-ready body definitely helped but she also has good form on her shot and knocked down the midrange

Erin McCormick-college ready body and understands how to use it and watching her finish around the basket, with either hand, as well as score off the dribble, with either hand was nice, so was rebounding on both ends

Ainsley Velasquez-her size and what she brought to the table was very impressive because she is just shy of “the magic number” creates her shot to score both inside and outside, rebounds on both ends, even pushes the ball in the open court

2023

Reese Brittain-uses her body well, works hard on the inside to get open, showed good footwork on finishes and she also rebounded strong on both ends of the court. Did well in 1 on 1 drill, same in games as she took defender off the dribble or hit pull-up jumper

Mikalah Buckley-showed very good body control on finishes after contact, this got her some “and one” attempts, yet she dropped multiple 3’s in a row as well but her athleticism, attacking the rim and her pull-up jumper while being contested all looked really good

Kendall Griffin-attacked strongly, finished after contact and showed she could create her shot from outside and knock it down. Played solid defense, even played the passing lane and rebounded

Jacy Reese-one of the most explosive players at the event, her first step is dazzling yet can be dizzying handling the ball so her ability to score off the dribble or just drop to mid to long range made her one of the top offensive players at the event

Sarah Sheriff– acrobatic finishes, after contact always grabs my attention yet so did her pull-up jumper in the half-court or stop and pop jumper in transition. She plays hard, her defense is smothering, she goes after the ball off the rim for rebounds and she still has upside

Tyanna Simpson-one of the most improved players in her class, she is scoring multiple ways on the inside, putbacks, drop steps, facing the rim for the short jumper yet her turnaround jumper on the block is becoming her go to for two

Taylor Snyder-hurt her ankle yet still competed, who does that, a COMPETITOR, yet I saw enough to know she see the floor, handles the ball under pressure and can score off the dribble or knock down the jumper

2024

Noelani Ajel– loved the “HEZ” because it definitely can get you open and when she got open, she took defenders with her hand in the 1 on 1 drill and the same in the games but she also saw the floor, scored after contact and knocked down contested jumpers

Tatyanna Bailey- she caught me staring at her early at the camp, I have her the Top 100 and just smiled and went completely off scoring more ways than I can write. She’s starting to realize how good she is, I already know and with her frame, athleticism, and ability to create her shot, she is on the verge of being a nightmare to defend

Alyssa Batton-one of the 1 on 1 standouts and one of the “you can’t stop me” standouts in the games because she has a “scorers mentality” and for the novice, she finds ways to put the ball in the basket and wants the ball in crunch time

Cora Bera– the 1 on 1 drill is one of my favorites, again, I love seeing what players do on both ends and her first step was hard to handle as she got wherever she wanted to yet she attacks the rim with either hand and showed the jumper as well as good defense

Iyanna Billups– became one of my “must-see” players last season after being hurt and coming back in pain to help win a game, she was one of the top defensive guards all weekend and scored off the dribble as well as with the jumper but she throws pinpoint passes for assists as well

Emery Espinoza– Double E is double trouble because she can score off the dribble, as well as mid to long range, maybe her middle name starts with an E because that 3 ball is one of the best in her class. She sets the defender up so smoothly

Alysha Garza– played big and one more time #sizedontmatter when you can play and her ability to control the tempo, handle the ball under pressure and make the right passes are all huge, so is her ability to hit the jumper and her stutter-step…

Mariah Houston- when you open things up with a “no look” on the money, believe me I’m looking even harder so she creates her shot and knocked it down from everywhere, mid to long, off the dribble, defying gravity, she was the Offensive MVP and I have her #18 in her class on PGH Texas, that will change
