2018 Match Up City Invitational Tip Sheet

'18 Match Up Spirit

SPIRIT PLUMMER

MANSFIELD, TEXAS- PassTha Ball has done it again, they may sound like a broken record however the record on helping expand the game speaks for itself, in more ways than one and last weekend’s Match Up City Invitational gave me a chance to do what I enjoy, catching talented players I haven’t seen before and for those who I’ve already caught, watching their progression on the court, especially at this stage because there are tons of players that are 10 year old who are labeled “can’t misses” by many, not me, that just pan out over the duration and this happens for a variety of reasons but the main thing is players need to keep working on their games and competing against competitive players so with that being said, here are some of the standouts from the event but don’t fret, if you aren’t following me on social media,, Twitter, Instagram or Facebook, you’ll probably miss something

'18 Match Up Goosbly

ALLANA GOOSBY

Kelly Mora (Lubbock Nitro2023) has taken her game to a whole “nother” level. A shade over 6’0 which is the magic number college coaches look for, her effort inside the paint was not unnoticed as she battled for everything but her expanded range, including the long ball and her running the floor spoke volumes as she’s a #D1Lock coming

Salena Carrasco (Nike Cy Fair Elite 2026) has a knack for getting to the basket a variety of ways as well as finishing and this includes “after contact” good upside, love the floater

Lydia Wiggins (TX Nation 2023) you have players with speed and those who have speed with the ball, Wiggins is the latter plus she’s under control and this enables her to blow by defenders easily or keep them guessing with mid to long range jumpers

Kaylinn Kemp (HUB 2025) I said she had D1 written all over her the first time I saw her but what she brings to the table right now is eerie because she has vision and plays the passing lane and can score countless ways but her spin move in transition gave me a smh moment

LeAsia Maddox (TX Nation 2025) strong and athletic times size with effort to the second power gives you a picture. High energy, battles for everything and can score facing or with her back to the basket

Allana Goosby (Pro Skills 2023 Jones) range, mid to long, strong body, attacks well from all over the basket and completes after contact. What adds to the equation is that she not only can create her shot under pressure but stop and pop in transition

Aziyah Reeves (UNITY 2023) athletic, strong body attacks relentlessly and does a good job of creating her shot under pressure. Showed range as well as played defense including playing the passing lanes

Alysia McDaniel (UTLB) they have an old saying, “you can’t teach size” well I have one that I added, if you can play. Runs the floor, finishes and rebounds on both ends, nowhere near the finished product but her mentality is you won’t outwork her

Spirit Plummer (AD Elite 2023) I enjoyed watching this young lady at TJ Showcase a few months ago and was impressed so to say I’m overly impressed now is an understatement. She’s physical, gives and takes and just never takes a playoff while finishing and rebounding on both ends of the court but she showed she could defend on the perimeter as well

'18 Match Up Reagan

REAGAN JACKSON

Reagan Jackson (Pro Skills Donnelly) plenty of action while I watched her for a short time but she attacks strongly and completes , she rebounds strongly and she defends, you guessed it, strongly. One of the plays of the day caught her going behind the back C2C in transition for a basket

Mia Jimenez (SA Lady Hoops 2023) she shoots the three so well at every setting I’ve caught her but that midrange, her ability to attack as well as her pinpoint passes on the money all mean a lot, plus she’s threading the needle like a master seamstress

Kennedy Chapelle (Pro Skills) she’s probably not related to Dave but she will have crowds watching her. Her continuous improvement is showing, plus she’s court savvy, already “gets it” and can score but her ability to see the floor and just make plays………

Deyanna Douglas (UNITY 2024) size, strong body, finishes strong with contact and rebounds on both ends, all pluses at this stage but she runs the floor and makes nice passes but even more important, she doesn’t get flustered

Aniyah Johnson (Nike Cy Fair Elite 2025) very athletic and very strong and did a good job of scoring off the dribble or pulling up for the midrange

Clara Paynter (Nike Cy Fair Elite 2025/26) has the right last name because she’s painting a picture right now. The midrange is a lost, get this, art and knocking it down consistently at this age will go a long way

Skylar Anderson (OLBE) another young player that showed she could hit the midrange over and over. Creates well with defenders on her, nice upside

'18 Match Up 2027 Bailey

MaKENZIE BAILEY

MaKenzie Bailey (SAF Team Desi) countless kids this age I’ve labeled can’t miss including the young lady this team is named after but Bailey is a 2027, long and athletic with size. She already understands the simple things, I see the desire in her eye and willingness to compete and she made some things happen on the floor, huge upside, I ain’t been wrong yet

Alyxa Martinez (SA Lady Hoops 2024) you can’t teach BB-IQ, no matter what anyone tells you they do not have a Testmasters’ class for it and when she through a full court bullet between three defenders on the money, well that would be enough. See’s the floor, comprehends the game and can score

Tajenae Gooden (DPE) strong, athletic and gets to the rim under pressure plus she’s “an and one” waiting to happen. Nice outside game, rebounds well and plays pressure defense baseline to baseline

Micah Cooper (Nike Cy Fair Elite COOP) so what’s the scoop on COOP? well she’s one of three Micahs in the Metroplex, she had at least a 3 inch growth spurt since I wrote about her in July, she’s long, athletic, getting wherever she wants whenever she wants and completing the job. She’s definitely impressing me

Emmi Steele (HG Elite 2023) talent keeps flowing throughout the organization and Steele stole the show with her athleticism and size, plus she defends and already moves her feet nicely showing mobility. Attacks and finishes plus she faced basket and scored, good upside
