2031 Wall Climbing Up The Ladder

I had a chance to catch Stella Wall on the PGH Circuit this past season with her Inner Chi Dragons club team, and several things immediately grabbed my attention, starting with her being long and athletic, which is the base, as well as standing above “the magic number”, she’s now 6’2, having added another inch and when you factor in she’s a 2031, a picture is being painted

Her club coach and team director, Joseph Childress, briefly spoke with me and told me about her desire to get better and updated me on what she’s added via video. Watching her rebound and go coast to coast to score was nice, as well as her attacking the basket from everywhere off the dribble, but what I also enjoyed was her doing those things more fluidly and finishing stronger after contact

She’s also doing things instinctively, like following her own shot as well as her teammates, which are some of the things I don’t see enough of in this era, so let me drop the #THROWBACK hashtag for that alone. Her timing to block, alter, and/or deflect shots has improved, so has her aggressiveness on both ends, and seeing her go AFTA the ball off the rim is a huge plus

Her court vision from the high post, as well as in transition, looks good; she also has been working on the “hands and footwork” to finish, and speaking of finishing, she’s doing it with either hand. Her pull-up jumper looks good, she’s even extended her range to drop the long ball, but her lateral movement on defense needs to be mentioned as well because her upside is becoming scary, on both ends, and guess what, the picture isn’t finished yet
