Calling All Hoopers Individual Showcase
It’s always great to hang out with the Texas Savage crew, and watching them climb the ladder to be college coaches has been joyous, as both are knowledgeable and dedicated, so the first part of the Showcase gave me some new faces, as well as an old one who keeps getting better. We’re going to put together another one in June, so be ready
Nylah Crudup (2027) long and athletic guard ranked in the PGH Texas Top 100, continues to blossom on the court. Her 3-ball is clicking, and she’s doing a good job of mixing it in with the midrange as well as scoring off the dribble, yet her body control after contact has gotten better, along with her crossover and slight HEZ to take the defender to the basket
Kenya Taylor (2025) long and athletic guard, I knew absolutely nothing about, yet she’s crafty with the ball and also showed a nice crossover to attack and finish. Her first step is nice as she can leave the defender standing, but watching her create contact had me smiling. She also gave me the “catch and shoot” plus her “on the ball” pressure and timing to block shots stood out
Ja’Niyah Washington (2025) long and athletic guard who also showed a nice first step to attack and finish after contact; her body control played a part in that. Her pull-up and “stop and pop” jumper looked good but peep this, she follows her shot. She also hit the boards and handled the ball afterward. She applied “on the ball” pressure and also showed good timing to block shots
Jordyn Hylton (2028) heady guard who already understands the importance of controlling the tempo and setting her teammates up. Her court vision was across the board was solid, yet she’s crafty with the ball and used a deceptive first step to attack and finish. She also has nice body control, plus she dropped the pull-up jumper and did a good job defensively, “on the ball”
Hannah Boone (2028) her frame and skillset immediately stood out, and watching her do things effortlessly in the skills session tells me a lot about what’s coming. She poised on both ends, attacked and finished after contact, plus dropped the midrange as well as the 3-ball. She rebounded, saw the floor, and showed good timing to block shots, and she played the passing lane
