SAHE 2029 Red River Champions #TJShowcase
I have always enjoyed catching the “NEXT UP” groups over the years and staying with my “talentiseverywhere philosophy, it’s always good to go back and read what I said for a number of reasons, mainly to prove I was right so this group of San Antonio Hoops Elite put things together to win the 7th Grade Division and here are some of the standouts
Makayla Cervantes- scored off the dribble numerous times, the first step is already showing signs of creating problems from here on yet her rebounding and playing the passing lane also stood out, especially since she handled the ball in the open court afterward
Isabella Mancha– also does a nice job of setting the defender up to attack the basket. She has a slight HEZ, some call it HEZZIE, but it’s the hesitation and when you factor in her body control is already nice at this stage, she’s on to something. She also played the passing lane
Amani Smith– created her shot under pressure and showed she could not only drop the midrange but the “money ball” from long range. Her defense was solid and she rebounded on both ends
Lillian Otten– scored off the dribble and showed she could attack the basket multiple ways from multiple angles, that’s always good but she also understands how to get hers “in the flow”
Addysen Reyes– is a heady guard that plays within herself and doesn’t force plays or shots, that’s always a good sign, but she saw the floor and made good decisions. She also did a good job defending
Sutherlyn Menn -handled the ball under pressure and saw the floor, also under pressure. Her crisp “on the money passes” to teammates were nice and she did it in the set as well as off the dribble
T’Anna Evans -hit the boards hard on both ends and got the outlet going a few times but she also ran the floor, on both ends, and showed solid defense, both in and outside the paint. She attacked the basket and finished after the contact
Jazlyn Alexander– gets the cover for not only playing up, but she’s also a 2030 and showing signs of potential up, Up, and AWAY. Yes her upside is really good because she’s “long and athletic” and always remember that is the base. Watching her not only play the passing lane but rebound and go coast to coast was nice. so was her pull-up jumper while being defended. She also scored off the dribble and saw the floor
