2017 I-45 Shootout

Mackenzie Green and Liz Scott

HOUSTON, Texas- When I saw the names of the players committed to participating in Pass Tha Ball’s “I-45 Shootout” All Star game I knew this was definitely a must see for me even though I had seen many of the players before, especially those in the “heavy hitter” group of 2018-2019 players and of course all of those kids in this group showed not only promise but I knew they would be among the top players in their classes which just about assured them of being #D1Locks and the good part about what I say is that it’s easily verifiable by using search bars and archived stories on both here and my blog. Jasmine Smith (Rice) has solidified her status as one of the state’s top point guards in Texas 2018 while both Corina Carter and Harmoni Turner have taken their games over and beyond since I saw them last and showed explosive scoring power during the event. Cyd Rivera and Miya Crump round out the talented senior group of players, Rivera continues to impress with her midrange and ability to create while the 6’1 Crump can play all 5 positions, well but the key thing about all of these young ladies is that they will elevate their games even more at the next level

Throughout the countless seasons and games of watching Kaylynne and Kayleigh Truong play alongside Taylor Thomas just amazes me how time has flown since I caught them pre middle school. The Truong twins have BCS schools all over them and their ability to score multiple ways continues to impress me while Thomas keeps turning up the volume on both ends of the floor. McKenzie Green, Liz Scott and Amanda Ferry also were pre middle school stars that blew me away and folks it’s a difference between doing something a long time and know what you’re doing or in this case looking at so all of this 2019 group just had “it” early and with experience and time, everything else was going to fall into place. Dyanni Robinson and Briley Perkins continue to progress and when you know you’re already good and won’t settle told me a lot early on and  that district race involving their Langham Creek squad as well as the Truong’s Jersey Village team is sure to continue keeping that district as one of if not the best in the city and of the best not only in the city but the 2020 class is 6’3 Deyonna Gaston who I watched shoot the long ball effortlessly over the summer to simply add to her already dominating game
