2021 Duel State All-Star Games 7th Grade (2026) Tip Sheet pt 1

I’m dropping 20 guards here in part 1, don’t fret, I’ll drop even more on my BLOG because “that’s what I do” and let me add I’m not a novice at this so you will always get what I see and man, I saw plenty at the Duel States All-Star Games. This was a perfect platform to be on the radar by someone knowledgeable who has NO AGENDA whatsoever so it’s sad that many choose to believe nonsense, I can’t judge, I still buy LOTTO, POWERBALL, and MEGA MILLION tickets because you gotta play to win and if you play “in front of me” well you’re going to win as well

JORDAN PEETE & JAYLA CONSTANT (attacking)

Payton Obringer (Baylor) Showed she could create her shot, under pressure and that’s always a good thing yet what’s even better is that she made it and with a legitimate pull-up jumper at her age, she showed in transition, she has some neat tools on the offensive end, well she finishes after contact as well. Nice upside

Jordan Peete (Baylor) I kept asking her was she related to Calvin Peete and she kept telling me no yet she was more than “par for the course” and her ability to run the 1 was one of the best in her division. She handles the ball very well and sees the floor nicely but she too has a pull-up as well as the ability to explode off the dribble

Mya Alston (Dallas Baptist) long and athletic, that midrange is very hard to handle so let me #D1Lock her right now, but her passing and attacking the basket just keep getting better as her strides allow her to get by defenders with ease. Also, she’s finishing acrobatically, which excites me and she does it with either hand

Kylie Marquez (Dallas Baptist) when I write WHEW in CAPS, it could mean anything such as the way she BATTLES and attacks the basket RELENTLESSLY, those two words say a lot but she creates off the dribble to set things up and she understands how to score multiple ways and that is very big right now because it translates on what’s coming

Moriah Gaston (Dallas Baptist) if you ever steal my notes and try and figure out my acronyms, let me help since much of my stuff has been stolen anyway but SWB, speed with ball and her hands, yeah she got a few steals herself are just part of what she brings. She uses her athleticism well, plays the passing lane, sees the floor, and hits the outside shot

Skyla Nguyen (North Texas) did a good job creating her shot, I love seeing this, well I also loved seeing her attack the rim and see the floor because when you understand the basics and apply them, you’re ahead of the game but her timing on defense definitely caught my eye as she blocked shots, played the passing lane and just got it done

Jayla Constant (North Texas) was a CONSTANT nightmare to defend and she will continue to be because she’s fast, the first step is something and she handles the ball so that right there is a great base to start with so let me add something else, body control, I wrote ACRO in caps because that’s how she finished and when you can go like she goes under control…

Morgan Davis (North Texas) just continues to prove how great I am at evaluating because as a 2nd or 3rd grader, her poise and ability to take over games just blew me away and now, she doesn’t have to take over, unless necessary and her ability to run a squad has her at one of the top PG’s in her class. She controls the tempo and sees the floor and threads the needle like a master seamstress

SKYLAR ANDERSON

Skylar Anderson (Paul Quinn) I’m adding another hashtag #CLUTCH because she wants it and delivers when it’s needed, whether it’s mid to long or off the dribble, her ability to score under pressure seems to amaze me every event I catch her so It ain’t no fluke. Watching her set defenders up, in the flow and dropping the pull-up jumper or in the half-court set, her catch and shoot is pretty impressive

Rieyan Desouze (Paul Quinn) caught her early, 2nd or 3rd grade and she too is one of the top PG’s in not only Texas but the country, I can say that because I know where the bar was set, many say it after leaving a bar but she was named MVP of the event and when you understand how to put a team on your back in crunch time, when you make those around you better, you’re on to something plus she scores multiple ways and plays solid defense

Simone Richmond (SMU) the youngta with the scary upside was one of my first impressions a couple of years ago and now, well, she just makes things happen and her athleticism coupled with solid ballhandling sort of sets the tone as she sees the floor or just attacks from anywhere and in the open court, either are a problem but when you add her jumper, that offensive package is about to be tied with a bow

McKenzie Napier (SMU) I love seeing players play the passing lane, all you need is comprehension and desire, well legs and arms help but they also helped her attacked vigorously and finish after the lick. While she attacks the rim, she also does a good job of dishing going full speed and that set up some easy baskets

Amayah Garcia (SMU) uses her power and strength well and when you add “she creates her shot” and can score from the outside with players hanging on her as well as when she attacks the rim sort of ties into what I said to open. Her handling of the ball, with either hand, gives her options but she does a good job rebounding and seeing the floor

Maya Thompson (TCU) I only wrote LA and it has nothing to do with Louisiana or California but she’s long and athletic and I can’t keep talking about her “scary upside” because she’s frightening right now and seeing her glide through the air for baskets or elevate over defenders for the jumper is part of the package. She can take defenders in the half-court as well but that “playing of the passing lane” is just something

Endia Stigall (TCU) does a very good job of creating her shot, under pressure and her options are abundant because she can take the defender off the dribble with either hand, love seeing that, or she can hit the jumper which she also does in transition ala “stop and pop” yet she does it smoothly and in the flow

Natalia Jordan (TCU) long and athletic, her mannerisms never change and when you show poise at this stage, handle pressure with ease, that goes far yet she applies pressure on defense, well offensively as well as she takes defenders off the dribble, with either hand and finishes, with either hand but watching the outside shot continue to evolve is big

Salena Carrasco (TWU) one thing I love to do is use the search bar on my sites and seeing what these players have added, well yeah she can score off the dribble, hit the jumper, and drop that “floata” saw that 3 years ago but watching her finish strongly after contact and throwing passes faster than a speeding whatever through traffic was very nice

Jakary Brown (UT Arlington) here we go, SWB to go along with some pretty impressive ballhandling and I always look at speed with the ball and being under control as huge assets but but her ability to see the floor under pressure not to mention knock down the jumper is going to create some problems in high school

Kaysi Wilcox (UT Arlington) took defenders at WILL off the dribble and scored with GRACE as I plus a sitcom they should not have rebooted yet her game is a definite hit because not only does she handle the ball very well and see the floor equally impressively, I like the way she creates her shot which is fluid and consistent

Bella McSwaiin (UT Arlington) let me open with she’s athletic and she attacks the basket strongly, her ability to get to the rim and finish after contact was nice, well so was her knocking down the long ball, and when you can score multiple ways, that creates several problems but so does her playing the passing lane which led to baskets as well

Gianna Jordan (UT Arlington) all bets are off on how good she’s going to be, yeah I called her a #D1Lock and she continues to answer as she already “gets it” and she “gives it” with passes under pressure for assists or just applying pressure attacking the basket but her options at this stage, either taking it to the rim to finish or stopping on a dime for the pull-up are going to be hard to contain
