Top Performers-LBJ Division #TJShowcase

ANIYRA PEOPLES

The LBJ Division gave me surprises on opening day and here are some of the Top Performers, who I had rosters for, that caught my eye

Brianna Allen ( Austin Elite Sparks) is an athletic guard that used her athleticism on both ends, well she did, and her defense and playing the passing lane were solid, yet her first step to score off the dribble was impressive. She created her shot under pressure and knocked the mid to long-range down

Kalaeja Mays (Austin Elite Sparks) was another athletic guard that, well see above, and her “on the ball” pressure had me requesting water because it was smothering. Let me drop the #THROWBACK for her diving on the floor after loose balls along with her playing the passing lane. She also scored off the dribble

Kai Jones (Stat Elite India) is an athletic guard with a nice first step, she has a light HEZ to get the defender to lean and her body control helped her finish after contact. She was another player that impressed me playing the passing lane

Abigail Jacobs (Houston Queens 15U) did a good job attacking from multiple spots on the court, with either hand. She stayed under control and finished after the lick yet she also saw the floor, both in the set as well as off the dribble

Adaora McAfee (Houston Queens 15U) falls into that “used athleticism” on both ends group and with her being a guard that created her shot under pressure to drop the jumper or score off the dribble, that was part of it yet her baseline to baseline defense created some turnovers

Asia White-5’9 G (Houston United Blue) Cy Lakes did a variety of things that stood out and her being a long and athletic guard, that’s also the base, helped. She played the passing lane, and her defensive pressure was solid but she scored off the dribble with power and after contact, body control was nice

One-Wynter Fludd- 5’7 G (Houston United Blue) Cy Ranch used a deceptive first step to get by defenders and attack the basket yet her athleticism and body control gave her some nice finishes after contact. She also saw the floor and played good defense

HAILEY MILLER

Hailey Miller (DFW Elite Blue) is a long and athletic guard and gone are the days when I used to scare her when she would attend her older sister’s games, now she’s scaring me with her improvement and watching her not only attack to score but also drop the stop and pop was nice, her timing to block shoots as well as play the passing lane had me smiling

Erin Newsom (DFW Elite Blue)-5’6 PG is a long and athletic guard that scored off the dribble, the first step is semi explosive yet her ability to finish after contact was impressive because her body control assisted. Speaking of assists, she has court vision in the set as well as off the dribble, her “on the ball” defense was solid and she too played the passing lane

Aniyra Peoples (SA Hoops Elite 2027) 2028 was playing up and my crystal ball tells me that she’s going to be a “nightmare to defend” and we’ll revisit what I said down the road. She’s another “long and athletic” guard yet her explosive first step is ahead of her years, and so is her finishing after contact yet she also dropped the midrange, in the set as well as in transition

Taleesa Hope (SA Hoops Elite 2027) dad was filming and he had to bring the wide lens out because I stayed in his way yet this young lady is long and athletic, still the base, with some very impressive timing, saw her reject 3 shots on the same possession. She scored around the basket, rebounded on both ends, ran the floor, on both ends, and played solid defense
