Standouts from 2022 #I35HSShowdown

Alamo City Hoops always gives me what I need and one of the most important things I can always count on is catching new faces from other areas, remember folks, “talent is everywhere” and I hashtag that a lot because if you don’t know and just watch the same players over and over, you’re going to be surprised when it’s all said and done. The ACH crew put together a list of STANDOUTS so to not be repetitive, I’m dropping 10 more, including why Duncanville will make another run as well some of the top 2026 players I caught, and whatever else I drop, I’m still tired from Vegas trip and today I turned 63 so be patient, you’ll see more on here

Madison Olguin-5’6 G (Antonian) 2023– gutsy performances are an understatement as her diving on the floor for loose balls was one of the things that initially caught my, well-taking charges yet over the years, when needed she has taken charge, on both ends. She had a slight hip injury yet nothing changed, she also battled for rebounds and scored off the dribble

Avari Berry- 5’7 CG (Pflugerville) 2023– arguable one of the best point guards in Texas, please don’t argue with me because I haven’t been wrong yet. The thing is she can also drop it from anywhere which is why I have CG as in college coaches need to Come before she’s GONE. She understands how to control the temp, sees the floor, and handles the ball under pressure yet her body control makes her an “and one” waiting to happen

Evangelina Hernandez-5’6 SG (Somerset) 2023– okay I said I would repeat the ACH list but 40 points, come on. I didn’t see that game yet her ability to “create her shot under pressure” was among the best I saw at the event. She sets the defender up, her release is fluid and her shot is accurate but she also showed she could drop it from distance, 5 three pointers in one game, and “catch and shoot” plus the pull-up

Natalie Easton (Cornerstone) 2023– height not listed, I’m not good at eyeballing but when she did the “drop step” that JUST DID IT for me. She understands how to use her body inside the paint, nice hands and footwork enabled her to score around the rim and she rebounded on both ends

Alyssa Reyna-5’11 F (Jefferson) 2023– college ready frame is a piece of the puzzle bit watching her understand positioning to rebound added to the equation. She did a good job inside the paint and even scored after contact but on the flip, she defended inside the paint. Add her running the floor and voila

Kariel Martines-6’0 F/C (Harlan) 2023– scored off the dribble numerous times, with either hand. She also scored around the rim but her rebounding on both ends also stood out, and so did her running the floor, on both ends. She did a good job defending and showed good timing to block shots

Duda Igiehon-5’11 F (Clemens) 2024– long and athletic is the base yet the basis of evaluating players is what I’m good at and although she’s nowhere near the finished product, she has some scary upside because she plays smothering “on the ball” defense and solid timing to block, alter and (or) deflect shots

Addison Borchardt-5’5 G (Lampass) 2025– mental toughness could sum it up but she just keeps adding and her “on the ball” defense was among the best I saw from the guard position. Don’t get it twisted, she can score both off the dribble, she handles the ball nicely under pressure, and she can shoot it from mid to long-range

Abigail Williams-6’1 C (Lampass) 2025– on the verge of something big, I love her scoring inside with players literally hanging on her but again, that ‘hands and footwork” come in handy. She also scored facing the basket, she defended inside and showed she could step outside the paint and do it. Solid rebounding on both ends, very good upside

Abby Seitz- 5’7 CG (Vista Ridge) 2025– the straw that stirs the drink kind of player because she can take over games on either end, from the guard spot and that ain’t easy. She rebounded over 6’0 players and scored on them with her magical defying of gravity but peep this, she scores after contact both off the dribble and mid to long-range. Good court vision, vocal on the court and defended strong
