IJU 16U & 17U and 15U Squads #simmiecolsonclassic

The organization caught my eye last season and I made it a point to catch them whenever I could. I love next-level catching players I haven’t seen and they gave me quite a few. Here’s what I saw from the event

ROCKY HAWK

16U

2025

Rocky Hawk was so impressive defensively last season that I want to add, “ain’t nothing changed”. She goes hard, on the ball. she dives for loose balls, and she rebounds on both ends yet her scoring off the dribble and finishing strongly were very nice

Aminah Dixon can simply take games over offensively because she can score multiple ways, consistently. She creates her shot and drops the mid to long range, she also can “catch and shoot” as well as score off the dribble. Solid ballhandler with very good court vision

Maria Sareno is around 6’2 or 6’3 and showing signs with blinking lights that she’s going to have a breakout club season. She uses her body in the paint, scores around the basket but also does a good job defending on the interior. She did a good job rebounding and running the floor

Gissille Savoy gave me a glimpse of what was coming because she’s a

GARLYNN GRANT

2026

Kobe Johnson is long and athletic and that will always be the base and after seeing her last season, I knew what was coming. I enjoy watching her soar through the air to block shots or snag rebounds yet her pull-up jumper is smooth but you know what, as good as she is, a #D1Lock, she is nowhere near where she’ll end up, and oh yeah, she made PGH Texas Day 1 Tip Sheet

Daz McClennon is also “long and athletic” and she understands how to set the defender up to attack from multiple angles. She finished strongly, after contact, and has some impressive body control. She also saw the floor and did a good job defending

Garlynn Grant made it look easy because she’s athletic, has quick hands, and came away with steals galore. She also defended, on the ball, and played the passing lane. She creates her shot, knocked it down from mid to long range, and also scored off the dribble

Samantha Dorsey used her athleticism well on both ends and her going after the ball off the rim, on both ends was very nice, and so was her defense but she showed she could score and finish off the dribble

EGYPT SHORTER-CHAMBERS

17U

2023

Keyara Ford is an athletic guard that did a good job defending “on the ball” as well as handling the ball. She also created her shot for the jumper or to attack the basket

2024

Tamiah Allen played the passing lane off the top. She showed the “hands and footwork” I love to see in the paint but she also went after the ball off the rim and scored on putbacks

Lena Baubenider played the passing lane, did a good job rebounding on both ends, and also defended well

Egypt Shorter-Chambers did a good job of not only handling the ball but seeing the floor and her “no look” on the money JUST DID IT for me. She also scored off the dribble

2025

Kayra Craig used a deceptive first step to get the defender off guard which enabled her to attack the basket to either score or drop the pull-up jumper. She understands how to get hers in the flow

Jurnie Wallace blew by defenders a few times yet her body control and acrobatic finishes had me smiling. She did a good job of seeing the floor, she also defended and rebounded

15U all Class Of 2026

Ireland Wright scored off the dribble and showed the “catch and shoot” both from midrange as well as long-range

Jaliyah Jones is “long and athletic” which is still the base, but she is also tall with good timing. She rebounds, plays defense, and has good upside

Jakaila Matlock is an athletic guard that did a good job defending as well as creating her shot

Janiah Ledet is, you guessed it, “long and athletic” and watching her block, deflect and (or) alter shots was nice, and so was her attacking from the wing
