Houston Summer Slam HS Elite Top Performers

I’ve dropped some players from all 3 divisions from the Houston Summer Slam this past weekend on Prep Girls Hoops, you can revisit the articles by clicking on this link

I’ll be dropping MULTIPLE articles on HERE as well as on my BLOG over the next few days, but first, my first 5

Jerriyah Baines-5’11 G/F (Ellison) DC Queens Jake [2025]

Baines sold me in middle school yet her continuous progression on the court has been intriguing. I watched her set the defender up to score off the dribble with either hand, she even mixed it up and dished behind the back for an assist yet her “work ethic” is one of those things you can’t teach so watching her go after everything off the rim was nothing new, nor was her going coast to coast to score or pass, court vision is also nice. Her midrange as well as long ball also looked good

Camryn Beck-6’0 F (Klein Cain) Houston United Chuck [2024]

Beck has done enough to be added to the next PGH Top 100 update. First of all, she stands at the magic number but the magic doesn’t stop there, and watching her glide off the dribble to elevate and score was nice yet she does the same thing around the basket. Her midrange pull-up is also creating issues but she rebounds on both ends, she defends in and outside the paint yet her timing keeps me smiling as she blocks, alters, and (or) deflects shots. Let me also add something else very important, she’s long and athletic

Pfieffer Greene-5’11 G THS [2027]

Greene is “long and athletic” so now that’s out of the way, watching her take the defender with ease off the dribble was nice, she’s pictured above. Her first step is somewhat deceptive but she adds the HEZ nicely and that keeps the defender off balance. Her outside shooting, mid to long-range gives her options, and trust me, she’s one of the top 2027 players in Texas with unlimited potential, in other words, her “ceiling has no roof”

Sliyah Johnson-5’10 G (Hitchcock) DFW Elite [2026]

Johnson gave me a glimpse of what she brings to the table at the Texas Jamboree and all I was hearing was she could shoot the long ball well, and she can, however, her game is more than just that as she can rebound and go coast to coast and finish. She uses her frame around the basket to overpower smaller guards, she even understands the mismatch and takes advantage of it. The pull-up from midrange and putbacks were both solid

Kennedy Simpson-5’9 G (Summer Creek) Houston Lady Nets [2026]

Simpson never ceases to amaze me and since there are few things I have seen on this side in my over a “score” of watching, that’s 20 years, I have never seen a player lose her shoe and block a shot and then go 10 feet, still with one shoe, and block another, I can’t make this stuff up. Her acrobatic finishes with either hand is even better because contact is irrelevant. She drops it from mid to long-range, she rebounds, and plays the passing lane and blocks shots
