Sophomores shine at 40/40
HANNAH HOPKINS
Here’s an old saying “the best thing about freshmen is that they turn into sophomores.” That’s not one of mine, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t because I’ve seen freshmen come in right off the top and make their presence felt but on the other hand, I’ve also seen downward spirals from which there was no return. I have no idea what Sydnei Archei (VA), Jocleyn Jones (VA), Brogan Jones (AR), or Maya Dennis (IL) did in their freshman seasons however I have notes on them all and I’m thinking they will be having big sophomore seasons, all four will be one of the tip sheets coming. I do know about our local kids and Angela Harris and Faith Cook made their presence felt immediately, well like in the 6th grade and they were the top guards in their class for the area. Sentreal Gregory, Madison Glass and Vanessa Harris area trio of guards that have not only improved but have huge upsides which means a number of things you can read about in my book. Nancy Mulkey was in attendance however minor injuries kept her out, if you don’t know who she is, Google her before she plays in the WNBA. Talk about improving, Destiny Navarro is a lights out shooter that has added even more to her game since I saw her back in March, but I love success stories and comeback, remember the name Hannah Hopkins as she returns from a knee injury and from what I saw at the John Lucas 40/40 Camp she’s coming along nicely. I labeled Hopkins a can’t miss in middle school so when she sneaks up you, well I’ll remind who said it first
