Not Wild just Willie
It’s amazing to watch the transformation of some of these players. At 6’2, Carol Willie was going to school to play basketball if she wanted to for free, no question about that however the big question was how high she could go. Being over that magical number of six feet is almost an automatic scholarship but when I said if she wanted to go to school to play ball, that’s because she’s also an outstanding student, not to mention one of the nicest young ladies I’ve had the pleasure of knowing.
When I first saw her play as a freshman, that niceness was shown on the court however she quickly figured it out and over her first three seasons, she was part of the best team in the city record wise over those three years and putting an exclamation point on that three year run by being one of only a few players that are fortunate enough to play in Austin for a chance to play for a state championship.
“The Bomb Squad” is gone and to be honest with you, I didn’t think Cy Falls would be a factor this season however with several players stepping up, along with Willie being more offensive minded, I see she’s been working, this could become a three team race for the district title in arguably one of the top districts in the area.
Her working on her offensive game is good news for Horned Frog fans as Willie will ink it tomorrow with TCU putting yet another exclamation point on a fascinating run as she’s among an early signing class of over twenty area players
