It’s Sizzling On and Off The Court In Texas
BREANNA HAYDEN
The official “it’s not what you do it’s who you do it against” season is about to begin and for many players, their dreams of playing ball in college will come true after they show what they can do against other talented players during the July viewing events. The live period in which Division 1 college coaches can come out and see the young ladies perform live and in living color starts this week and although the temperatures have been consistently over 100 degrees outside, expect the talent level to be just as hot on the court. Two big tournaments start the action off in Texas, the Premier Super 64 in Frisco and the Big State Flava Jam which will be held in Carrolton and Lewisville, here is the schedule.
Several of the top players from Texas will be at both events; AJ Alix and Christen Inman, the two highest ranked players nationally from Houston will be at the Super 64 along with one of the states top posts, Kelsey Lang who is ranked in the 2013 Girlz Prep Report Top 100 while the Big State Flava will have three players from Texas listed on Hoopgurlz Top 60 national list, Imani Wright, Jada Terry and Breanna Hayden not to mention several other players from my 2013 GPR Texas Top 100 including Brentney Branch, Carol Willie and Diamond Lockhart.
Again this is the time when deals will be sealed and it will also put several younger players on the map. Over the years, I’ve always told our players to treat these events like a job interview and to take this stuff very serious because colleges aren’t just giving scholarships away. This isn’t a vacation, this is business and the sooner Player X realizes that, then they’ve moved ahead of the game.
I’m covering events all through the month and will have a final Texas Top 100 after all of the July events have been completed.
