Alodia Rising Stars Event

ANNA McCLEOD

I’ve been talking about talented players in our city since my first post on a message board over 10 years ago. One thing is for sure, the talent will keep coming in a variety of sizes, shapes and forms and sometimes you just have to know what you’re looking at. I compared the 2012 class to the 2005 class which had over 60 area kids play at the next level, 2012 is well over 50 as I type, this was a no brainer and I saw it before many of those players were freshmen. I’ve always loved evaluating players and watching their progression into “Rising Stars”, I even have a few of the Texas Rising Stars listed on the front page of the GPR website, that list will be updated soon to include Anna McCleod one of the top 2015 players in the area and whose star is definitely on the rise.

This year I’m teaming with Alodia to cover their “Rising Star” event which features almost 40 teams and plenty of “Rising Stars” of the future along with several ready for prime time players right now such as Dani Fielder and the new “Big Three” at Elsik Lillian Taylor, D’Jue Vaden and Gabby Ocanas who played big parts in Elsik’s run to the area finals this season. Once again, talent is everywhere and if you’re doing things of no benefit, then you shouldn’t be doing them at all.
