2022 TJ Showcase Inside Presence
I purposely omitted ’26 Taylor Hicks (CE 2023) as well as ’25 Somo Okola (Phoenix 2025) because of their dominating performances on Day 2, they will be on that Tip Sheet. Houston Queens had a couple of their stars, Danielle Porter and Brandolyn Freeman while Fierce also had a couple Ellie Corbett and Haydyn Collie, and those players were listed on my Prep Girls Hoops articles from TJ Showcase, yes I go both ways with this stuff so WHO ELSE did some damage around the basket, while I was watching
Crystal Jones (Austin Elite RFW) 2023– I gave her HM on Day 1 Top Performers because I’m still upset she blocked the ball so hard it knocked my donut out of my hand, it was chocolate on chocolate. Still, nevertheless, she has had a #BEAST of a season going from virtually unknown to sending messages multiple ways. She scores with players literally hanging on her, she rebounds ferociously on either end and she has good timing, to block shots with authority
Kaleehia Williams (Fort Worth Lady Hornets) 2023 I love when I see inside players with good hands and footwork, I drop the H/F so stay with me because some more players showed it. She finished strongly after contact yet had a soft touch around the basket as well. She understands positioning as well as getting the outlet going plus she defends
Katy Piper (Lone Star Magic) 2023– she went completely off scoring every way imaginable and whether it was dropping it from outside, attacking from every angle imaginable, or using nice H/F around the basket to score, with either hand. She defends both in the paint and outside of it but her handling the ball after rebounding to go coast to coast JUST DID IT for me
Kalika Gross (Waco Elite) 2023– nice size and frame are always a good base, so the intangibles roll in starting with that “hands and footwork” so yeah another H/F that finished strongly after the lick yet her mere inside presence did plenty of damage because of not only her finishes yet her lateral movement on defense was nice also
Cpeeritt Plummer (Austin Elite RFW) 2023– to say she’s BACK is an understatement and the signs she’s showing were very nice as she understands how to use her body to rebound, defend as well as score around the basket
Kyra Owens (SETX Elite) 2023– uses her body well, she’s strong and understands positioning and this all plays into her rebounding strongly, even against taller players. She finishes after contact and she does a good job on interior defense but she also runs the floor
Kendall Beck (Austin Elite RFW) 2024– 6’2 or 6’3 with a jumper is how I’m rolling this out and not only is she consistent from midrange, but she also can put the ball on the floor and get to the basket but what I really like is her accepting the punishment she gets around the basket-like it isn’t there. She scored around the rim with either hand, she rebounded, ignited the break and ran the floor and she blocked some shots
Cloie Jansky (Houston Elite Chuck) 2024 – strong with a nice frame yet she mobile around the rim and showed some agility on both ends, first to finish, yes after contact, as well as defend. She rebounded on both ends, she also got a couple of blocks while I was looking
Cindy Foka (Phoenix 2025) 2024– another comeback yet with a vengeance and her scoring around the basket was equivalent to a “Nightmare Waiting To Happen” as the 3BEAST was unleashed and her ferociousness going after the ball was among the best at the event, so were her finishes
Aubrey Bowles (Crossroads Queens) 2025– I started to save her for the New Faces article, however, she’s long and athletic and that is another base. I love her timing, her doing things instinctively as well as how she reacts. She altered quite a few shots, deflected a few, and even got some blocks yet her wingspan is very impressive, and so was her rebounding and running the floor and around the basket, she scored numerous times. Good upside
SaMiyah Bowers (CE Elite 2026) 2026– the progression continues as she’s beginning to realize just how good she is and can become because she has a college-ready body right now. She’s strong and athletic but her rebounding with authority to send messages just tickles me, and so do her finishes and that athleticism also kicks in when she steps on the perimeter to play defense as well as “play the passing lane”
