2022 UNSIGNED PLAYERS
I wanted to give an update on some of the remaining UNSIGNED seniors in Texas, all are ranked on PGH Texas either with a number or an article yet let me give you a quick breakdown on each, remember, I am not a PC, portal contributor, and I refuse to oversell players for self-promotion. I have been involved in girl’s basketball since the turn of the century and I’m the first person to ever put talented Texas players, as well as states surrounding Texas out there. I know the politics and I know the pettiness of some who feed you information yet I also know I’m a parent whose daughter played in the WNBA and had over 100 D1 offers because she was placed in the right situation to be showcased, things have changed and many players are being missed so here’s the real on each, Twitter handles attached, video is available
D2/NAIA Level
Mercedes Mancha-5’6 SG ( Manvel) @mmancha0
One of the best 3 point shooters in the area, understands how to create her shot under pressure as well as drop the mid to long-range under pressure,
Jennah Savage-5’7 SG ( St Thomas Episcopal) @jen_renee04
Right last name because she can be a force on both ends yet she transferred this season and was one of the leading scorers in the area, and that helped a team that had won one game the previous season to a District Championship and a few rounds in the playoffs
Caitlyn Panuco-5’7 SG (Whitney) @cpanuco23
One of the toughest guards in the state, I’m not a novice, that finds ways to put the ball into the basket. Mid to long range is very nice, she creates under pressure so well yet her deceptive first step and body control enables her to finish after contact
Makenna Walker -5’7 SG (Princeton) @MakennaWalker34
I have watched her drop 8 three pointers in a game several times, which drew me to find out her name since her EYBL organization didn’t turn in a roster yet she excelled switching teams and her “mental toughness” on both ends is second to none as she dropped 6 long balls in her last high school game, 3rd round of the playoffs yet she also rebounds and defends
Bree Casey-5’8 SG ( Homeschool) @BreeCaseyy
Definitely plays bigger than what she is, length and athleticism plus wingspan helps in a number of ways like playing the passing lane and on the ball defense yet she can attack the rim from anywhere and drop her shot from just about anywhere and she rebounds
Karina Ortiz-5’8 SG (Crystal City) @ortizkarinna12
Could actually play Low D1 and be effective in the right system, she is just a phenomenal player with solid BB-IQ yet virtually unknown because she stays in a small city but she can score, in multiple ways including dropping the 3 yet her “catch and shoot” ability definitely is one of the best in Texas
Low to Mid D-1
Amyria Walker-5’8 CG( Burleson Centennial) @D1Myri
Right Twitter handle because she is definitely a D1 player, scores off the dribble, finishes strongly with either hand, after contact, that’s important but so is her mid to long-range but factor in her ball-handling and court vision, she sees the floor very well and she can play solid “on the ball” defense baseline to baseline
Atria Dumas-6’2 PF/C ( North Shore) @itstreetree1
her height and wingspan make her serviceable at the next level because I’m factoring in “untapped potential” because she was a dual-sport player in high school. She has nice nice timing to block shots she also rebounds and runs the floor plus she defends yet she also can score around the basket as well as drop the short jumper
Aryelle Stevens-6’0 PF ( Pearland) @AryelleStevens
One of the hardest working players around the basket I have seen, in fact, she reminds me of those from yesteryear because she is a BEAST in the paint and you will not outwork her. She’s strong, finishes with players literally hanging on her, she goes after the rebound off the rim, no matter where it is yet she also dives on the floor will be a better college player
Brooklin Brown-5’10 SG (Shadow Creek) @brook_b22
One of the most versatile players in the state, she’s long and athletic, handles the ball in transition under pressure, after she has rebounded it but her court vision is solid, so is her pull-up jumper from mid to long-range yet she also has a nice first step and solid body control to score off the dribble, at times acrobatically
