Parker Wants a Second Chance

Chrishauna Parker stood out as freshman at Nimitz High School, but was plagued by injuries. As a sophomore, she teamed with probably the most publicized female basketball player ever, Brittany Griner, and helped lead her team to the Final Four in Austin, however they lost in the semi-final game.

Now she is teaming up with another highly ranked post at Atascocita, Rachel Mitchell, also from the Class of 2011, along with a couple of the Top 2012 players in the area, Curtyce Knox and Lauren Price as they try and make a run to a State Championship.

Last season at Nimitz, Parker averaged 18.1 ppg, 10.1 rpg, 2.1 spg. She also shot 50% from the field 37% from the bta, while making All District each of her first three seasons. At 5’10, she can do a lot of different things and in most cases in high school; she is a mismatch waiting to happen.

After this season, she will take her talents to UTEP and should fit right in. I asked her club coach George Washington his thoughts on the young lady.

“Chrishauna is so much fun to coach, because she hustles and does all the little things. She is an absolute BEAST on the court. She is the best rebounding guard I have ever seen. Her size, strength, and explosiveness make it impossible to stop her from getting to the basket.

Atascocita is one of the favorites to get to Austin and I am sure Parker is ready for the challenge.
