The Cy Fair Classic was off and running with quality teams and players last weekend. Several All Greater Houston players participated in the event including Courtney Williams, Brooke McCarty, AJ Alix and Akunna Elonu, pictured above. Top 100 player Jessika Palmer was also on hand as the torch seemed to be passing from some of the older players to the up and comers, such as Angela Harris who still has another year before she heads to high school. Elonu holds the distiction of being the second sister act to play in the State and National Final Four. Sister Adoara was a starter on National Championship Texas A&M’s squad, while Akunna helped Elsik do the improbable and make it to Austin as the Region 3 representative. They joing the Ogwumike sisters, Nneka and Chiney who also accomplished Final Fours in high school and college year before llast, in fact they did it twice.

The Alabama Roadrunners were on hand and despite not having Chardonae Fuqua, an ESPN Top 100 player that has verballed to Baylor, the Roadrunners were impressive as usual.

Much of that stemmed from several gifted athletes including Jasmine Steele, a shifty 5’3 point guard that has given the okay to Alabama when she finishes up her high school career. More action from the Cy Fair Classic and upcoming stories from Battle on the Bayou will be listed on the blog
