'18 Generation Next Weber McSwain

SHANELLE WEBER & ASHIA McSwain

ARLINGTON, TEXAS- I have mentioned several times before that the DC Queens organization has some of the best young talent in Texas, and their Generation Next proved not only that but the talented players from other teams in and out of Texas gave me an eyeful as I had a chance to catch Saturday action and saw some players I’ve seen and been impressed with early on, Morgan Davis and Mikah Coleman to name a couple and I wish I had seen Championship Sunday because I heard it was a blast and speaking of blasts, here are some of the young ladies that are on the verge of taking off. Follow me on Twitter because more will be coming later

Shanelle Weber-PF (DC Queens 2022 White) is just under the magic number of 6’0, this young lady is skilled and already gets “it” as she finishes powerfully, with either hand, has good footwork, runs floor and rebounds, good upside

Mackenzie Askew- G (DC Queens Silver 2023) plays both the 1 and 2 quite well and when you factor in she’s playing up, that adds to it. Tons of athleticism, the EURO sold me almost immediately, finishes in traffic with contact

Madison Caldwell-F (DC Queens Silver 2023) she’s playing 2 years up, she’s 5’9, long and athletic, and just went on a shooting frenzy dropping the long ball from everywhere. Good upside

'18 Generation Next Wilson

SENIYA WILSON

Seniya Wilson-PG (NTX Elite Silver 2022) shifty point guard that can both razzle and dazzle. She’s athletic, can handle the ball under pressure, gets to the basket easily, and has good ups, plus she plays the passing lane

Ashia McSwain- F (Lady Jets McSwain) plays multiple positions, powerful in the paint, on both ends, either scoring or rebounding but she can face the basket and score, sees the floor, and can handle the ball coast to coast with pressure

Jaelyn Morrison-G/F (El Paso Infinity) I didn’t even take any notes because it’s in my head. She simply scores, however, you want it, good size and frame enable her to overpower at times however she can finesse it as well, good defender, played up

Kelly Mora-P (Lubbock Nitro) is still in MS yet close to the magic number of 6’0 college coaches always ask about. Good hands, and footwork and finishes strong plus she rebounds on both ends and runs the floor, good upside

Aaliyah Chavez (Lubbock Nitro) hasn’t entered MS yet however what she does with the ball in the open court is better than some guards that are heading to the next level. Very talented, has good body control, and can score in bunches yet can run a team

Kendyle Hall-G (DC Queens Denton 2022 Black) is explosive in so many ways, first step enables her to get by defenders consistently while she also gets off the ground quickly and effortlessly. Anticipates well

Kierston Russell ( NTX 2025) plays everything but the1and the 5 but who knows, she may be doing that as well in a few years but her strong body as well as body control gives her finishes after finishes with contact and she anticipates plays

Andrea Johnson-G/F (DC Queens 2023 Platinum) has nothing like physicality coupled with being under control and she goes hard on both ends, all the time. Nice pull up in traffic, finishes very well, and rebounds

Rylan Jones (DC Queens 2025 Silver) athletic and attacks are always good and it’s even better when you finish but when you can take the lick over and over for “and one” attempts, yeah that’s special so throw in the bullets she threads the needle with …..

'18 Generation Next Mora

KELLY MORA

Alaysia Gude-guard (Waco Impact 5th Grade) athletic guard handles the ball under pressure and controls it going full speed. Attacks well, sees flor, good upside

Kyleigh Ward-guard (DC Queens Silver 2026) already makes pinpoint passes over and over and when you understand “seeing the floor” and “threading the needle” at this age, the upside is huge

Laila Holmes (DC Queens 2025 Orange) under control handling the ball first caught my attention and she already has a nice crossover that will only get better. Strong body and she rebounds strong

Ri’Azia Smith –F (Waco United 7th Grade) plays up, is long and athletic, runs the floor, has good timing to block or alter shots, rebounds, and finishes well. Nice upside and appears to be on the verge of reaching “the magic number”

Jillian Topping- F (LDN 2026 Elite) every time I see this young lady she has added something and this is the 3rd time this season. Size, skills, and desire, rebounds, finishes, runs the floor and plays good D

Kaley Oneal-G (DC Queens 2024 Waco) is athletic and can drop the midrange but what she also does is create her own shot with defenders on her

Dalani Fooks-F (Cheetahs 2027) uses her body well, rebounds, and understands keeping the ball high

Kimora Carroll-guard (DC Queens 2026 Houston) the phrase “instant offense” comes to mind as she can score, multiple ways, and quickly. Think she hit 3 or 4 threes in a row but she scores off the dribble as well
