2017 HoopersRUs HS Tip Sheet

'17 Hoopers R Us

HOUSTON, Texas- The inaugural HoopersRUs  hosted by PassThaBall was definitely a hit and for me, watching players I have seen for years continue to add to their game was refreshing to say the least because trust me, the game is not what it was a few years ago no matter what you think or hear and watching Earl Rooks and his Full Throttle crew break it down to the players and their ability to translate it over to game situation was also a big plus. Several new faces caught my eye, I had seen many but without rosters or erroneous rosters, that can be a headache but it went away after seeing them in action.  When I cover an event, I look at as many players as possible and there definitely were some next level players for various levels in attendance  and here are the “big girls”

 '17 Hoopers R Us (2)

2018

Salem Diaz –guard- good defender, rebounds, hits the midrange and can take defenders off dribble. Has good BB-IQ but the lost art of following your shot was definitely good to see

Brianna Cloud-guard-creates shot well, hits the midrange consistently and can take defenders from the wing. Also rebounds and defends, showed she could finish with contact, with either hand

Jocelyn Thomas-guard- explosive scorer with unlimited range is only a start, very acrobatic around basket with highlight finishes. Defends well and just keeps coming at you over and over

2019

Kaitlyn Davis-guard- anticipates on defense as well as defends and rebounds looked really good as well as her exploding to the basket and finishing strong. Always cut shoot it from deep, it’s just deeper but mixes it up nicely taking defenders off dribble

Darby Hurley-guard/forward- consistently adds to game every year, good shooter from all over the court, rebounds and defends but her defense has taken a jump as well as ball handling under pressure

Treece Daily-PG-pass first mentality but can take over when needed, attacks strong, extra burst of speed makes her hard to defend, finishes strong with contact but setting teammates ups for easy baskets is definitely a plus

D’Asia White-PG- definitely can score multiple ways and plays the same way no matter what, hard. Handles ball well, doesn’t mind contact in fact relishes it and is an and one waiting to happen. Good defender

Ashley Williams –guard- plenty of tools, strong body, athletic and will battle on both ends. Goes after boards, finishes strong but her ability to catch and shoot while making it consistently was something to see

2020

Jaedyn Dunn –PG- vocal and just won’t let you outwork her, plays both ends hard and her explosiveness with the ball enables her to get by defenders or stop and pop, Sees floor and handles ball well

Savanna Smith- PG- ball handling under pressure has taken jump as well as seeing the floor. Strong and athletic , loves to defend baseline to baseline and her ability to finish with contact as well as nailing the outside shot makes her hard to handle

2021

Aiken Semones-PG- transitioning into playing the one nicely, handling ball under pressure and seeing the floor well along with creating her shot under pressure. Shoots the long ball well

Jermia Green-guard-nightmare to defend in the open court, handles that dazzle, takes the lick and finishes strong, nice pull-up, mid or long range and can defend baseline to baseline. Plenty of upside

Daeza Deroucet-guard- right initials because that defense is dynamite but her ability to anticipate the pass definitely had me smiling as well as having good hands. Handles the ball well and has good range

Raven Adams-PG-poised beyond her years, first step keeps defenders guessing because she can blow by you or hit the mid to long range shot but her ability to see the floor with pinpoint passes just makes her hard to handle

Mikayla Green-guard- I love progression and Green just keeps adding to what she already has. Handling the ball under pressure and finishing strong looked real good as well as midrange and defense

Valerie Panuco-guard- from April to now, I’ve seen her show me something different every sighting and her upside is definitely nowhere near where she’ll be. Creates her shot and hits mid well, defends and rebounds

Precious Daily-PG- one of those players that never takes a play off, can change momentum of game from either end, attacks and finishes, handles ball and sees floor well under pressure

Daisy Rodriguez-forward-length and timing enables her to block or altar shots, gets to the basket with ease and finishes strong. Good energy and goes after everything on the boards, dives for loose balls
