2017 I-10 Live Showcase Tip Sheet
DAMAYA TELEMAQUE (TEXAS ELITE ADIDAS PHENOMS)
HOUSTON, Texas- My last leg of a four tournament early July viewing period closed with the Texas Elite Phenoms hosting their inaugural certified event and with double digit coaches in attendance over the two days, lots of players got on the map and even more importantly received offers that they didn’t have coming into the event. I guess my being there was sort of cool as well since no one covers an event like I do and needless to say, I definitely saw a lot and when I have rosters, even I amaze myself at times. The athletic and high flying Lady Pumas were definitely an energy booster as well as an abundance of long ball shooters from Clutch City Bowman that could turn a 20 point deficit into a 20 point win. Rice Blue Storm is always fun for me but the youth flowing through Lady Daredevils and Houston Elite Red have lots of potential, as well as players from Brazos Valley Elite. Speaking of Elite, DFW Elite Houston Butch brought plenty of heat as well as a team In thoroughly enjoy catching, the Huston Lady Dominators. I remember when the original Lady Phenoms squad had players not even playing high school ball and I just loved watching them get after it and every one of them I said would do this or that, have done exactly as I projected as they’re lighting it up at the next level. Three Texas Elite Phenoms squads are following the trend with player that will play at the next level but right now, I picked a few that stood out from all of the squads so here we go starting off with a story. I saw Damaya Telemaque in the 8th grade at a camp and a parent walked up asked me what I thought, I responded D1LOCK right now and he said; yeah I have to find her a team. My response was “you found 12 different ones for your kid so that’s plenty of choices”
2018
Damaya Telemaque-guard (Texas Elite Adidas Phenoms) That story above will never get old nor me enjoying watching this young lady operate on the court. When you bring that “it” factor at the one, you’re already ahead providing you can play and boy can she. She creates under pressure scoring any way she wants but she also understands the importance of getting her teammates involved. She defends well, high BB-IQ, handles ball with either hand, scores with both of them also, I mean I’m done but she ain’t, trust me
Teranesha Washington-guard (Houston Lady Dominators) I always talk about some of the things you can’t teach and “heart” is definitely one and as talented as she is from the 1, one of the things I’ve always loved about her game was her “team first” mindset. She gets hurt and is hobbling yet she begs coach to back in a close game that was winnable with her in, she can score from anywhere on the court but her ability to see the floor and get teammates involved as well as her ball-handling and defense earns her an A all July
Breanna Smith-post (Clutch City Hoopstarz) on a team of legitimate long ball shooters, she definitely fits in because her ability to score on the inside keeps defenders honest and not doubling down. Strong body and finishes after taking the lick, good hands and footwork plus she rebounds on both sides of the court. She’s also one of those players that simply won’t back down
2019
Breionne Woods-guard (Lady Pumas Select) a tough as nails is what I called her as a 6th grader, well that and a bonafide threat in the making. I guess you already know where this is heading but relentlessly attacks the basket for points, that pull-up is devastating s well as her defense which tired me out just watching her. She rebounds on both ends and just won’t stop coming at you
Kiome Dixon-guard (Rice Blue Storm Legacy) plenty of offensive firepower from this young lady is what I said a few seasons ago, well here we go. The progression she continues to show has me smiling, I love how she can stop on a dime going full speed and nail the jumper, mid or long but she can get to there and finish with contact. Loving the heat on D which keeps getting better
Jinaye Pittman-post (Houston Elite Red) I always say size don’t matter however you have to amend that statement with if you can play. Size definitely matters, especially at the next level and my first sighting of 6’1 Jinaye Pittman tells me she’ll land somewhere just based on her 73 inches. Nowhere near the finished product but I’m loving the simple things she gets and understands and that, combined with her upside will prove me right, once again
JERIAH WARREN (TEXAS ELITE PHENOMS)
2020
Amari Joulevette-guard (Lady Daredevils) I definitely saw something in her game 4 years ago and I love doing a search on my sites just to see how right I was. Steadily improving in all areas after I called her game solid even back then, yeah she could handle the ball and score young and still can but her defense and poise on the court have made her even better
Ja’Nyah Bennett-guard (DFW Elite Dones) her athleticism definitely caught my eye at TJ Showcase and even though I didn’t know who she was, I knew I eventually would and after watching her three times since then, she has shown me something extra each time. When you play the same start to finish, defend on ball or in paint, rebound on both ends, well a smart evaluator will take notice and my eyes are definitely open as she can attack and score plus pull-up for the mid
2021
Jeriah Warren-guard (Texas Elite Phenoms) add her to the list of 6th graders I called a D1 lock as she picked offers at the event but at a shade under 6’0 and capable of shooting the long with ease as well as scoring repeatedly from the wing, that was back then t call. She’s shooting the long ball even farther out, midrange looks good as well as her defense and rebounding, more coming as in offers and upside
2022
Aliyah Collins-guard (Brazos Valley Elite) too bad I didn’t catch her in the 6th grade because I can tell this didn’t happen overnight but her ability to blow by defenders, while dribbling the ball is an asset that will get her in school at the next level with just that. She’s explosive on both ends however her initials are AC so no matter what heat is thrown at her, she stays cool. Runs the one with precision of a seasoned senior already, can score multiple ways and defends, trust me on this #sizedontmatter guard
