Prime Time opens up July with some heat

HOUSTON, Texas- There’s an old saying that has been thrown around even before I was born and that’s things are bigger in Texas which equates to as large as the state is, there’s an abundance of basketball players capable of playing college basketball at various levels. I decided to sneak in on another Prime Time Tournament when I noticed several teams would be attending that I hadn’t seen or hadn’t seen enough of and like the TRUE evaluator that I am, I definitely had some players that opened my eyes and have big things in their future. Since I didn’t ask for rosters, I had to play this one by ear, it was a little harder but I got what I needed to roll forward so you can follow that bouncing ball

High School Division

Treece Daily (ASA) you can’t teach heart and what appeared to be a tourney ending injury on opening day, Daily came back with a vengeance attacking the basket at will and run the squad. What I really liked was her leadership as well as being vocal on the floor

Kween Jean (3T) standing over the major number and with you throw in the length and athleticism, you definitely have something to work with. I loved watching her battle on both ends for boards as well as running the floor and finishing

Kirby Ritter (Houston Premier) I’ve watched this young lady numerous times over the past two seasons and one thing that seemed to be the general consensus was once she clicked and understood what she was working with; it was going to be on. She’s added mass and scored inside as well as facing the basket plus hit the boards hard

Catherine Hursh ( Katy Lady Warriors) really looked good until I found out she’s a 2020 and oh my, I found another one early. This young lady can do a lot of things offensively but I really like her demeanor playing up and she’s definitely going to make some noise at Cinco

Brandiss Bass (SAC) long and very athletic, the overused word relentless definitely applies to this young lady because she battles after everything on the board. She’s a nightmare to defend in the open court; she gets there and gets it done

Kim Levengwood (Kingwood Hoops) another offensive diamond as she puts up numbers quickly and from just about anywhere on the floor. I guess her ability to create her own shot under pressure should be added but she can definitely get it done

DAYONA HUNTER 

 

Middle School Division

Lane Rice (Houston Premier) impressed me from day one a couple of years ago and now, well that opening day performance was one of the best of the tournament. Off the dribble, attacking the basket, pulling up on the break, she scored at will and even dropped some floaters

Allison McGallion (SETX) every week I’ve seen her over the past two months, she keeps progressing and with her length and desire, she’s putting together quite an array of weapons which will make her hard to deal with

Bre’Yon White (Lady Roadrunners) she’s long and tall, great body and doesn’t mind the physicality and after I saw her a couple of weeks ago, I knew her future would be bright. Since then she’s added a variety of things including a nice spin move she’s developing so all bets are off

Dayona Hunter (Madisonville) when you’re young and understand the simple things, it’s going to be an easy road especially if you play hard, you’re athletic and you can finish with contact but when you play that passing lane like a pro already, awe yeah, it’s coming

ShaDimon King (ASA) I tweeted King was Queen of the paint but that’s putting it mildly. Her continuous improvement has me smiling on where she was when I first saw her and where she’s headed as she gets ready for HS. She won’t back down, she’s facing the basket to score but that bread and butter of fighting in the paint has gone to another level
