Under The Radar stars shine in July

 

TANA DRIVER

 

METROPLEX & SAN ANTONIO, Texas- I stopped by PBR’s Firecracker Warm Up then headed to Big State Flava and finished up the first half of July at The Blueprint to observe the talent and like I always say, it’s is everywhere, especially in Texas. Those events also gave me a chance to catch up with some of the GPR Under The Radar players which simply means these kids can definitely play at the next level and I put my rep on that. It’s always good to be where I am, especially when the coaches are around

 

2015

Katie Burke-5’7 point guard (MC Legends)- Burke continues to dazzle this summer and created a lot of buzz with her ability to run a team. Burke’s defense is always on point and she’s also showing when needed, she can take over offensively

Tana Driver-5’1 point guard (DFW Hawks)-Who cares about an inch or two, Driver would be a Top 100 lock if she was 5’7 but she’s a D1 player regardless and her basketball IQ is as good as anyone I’ve seen in the class. Tana just makes plays, it’s that simple

Torrie Thompson-5’6 combo (Pearland Thunder)- Thompson is explosive on offense and will run through a wall, I’m talking brick not paper and her gutsy play shows as she dives on the floor after loose balls or whatever it takes to help the team

MADISON SCHENCK

2016

Cori Schnell-5’8 guard (DFW Elite Super Girls)- Schnell can shoot it long and midrange with ease but she’s constantly doing things that make me wonder, “how did she do that” and some of that has to do with great body control along with a knack for being around the ball at the right time

Madison Schenck-6’0 forward (Texas Elite Crazy Quick)-Schenck created plenty of buzz at The Blueprint as colleges love 6’0 that can stretch the defense and not only can she stroke it from long and mid, her ability to put it on the floor keeps getting better

Maci Forsythe-5’7 guard (Lady Big Dogs)- Maci could always shoot however she’s shooting with an even higher accuracy and creating on her own quite well. She’s also become more aggressive on both ends and simply went off several games

Jordan Stover-5’6 combo- (DFW Elite Wonder Girls) –Stover plays with two things, smarts and passion and the heart that she shows no matter what is something you can’t teach. She can run a team; well she always could but that outside shot was smoking as well as the D

Malee Jones-5’9 guard (Shooting For Success)-Jones made a lasting impression the first time I saw her and I’m sure those college coaches that watched her put her team on her back down the stretch including threes to send into OT and one to win it made believers out of them too

Alexia Torres-5’5 guard (SA Isanders)-Torres simply amazes me, not just because she’s one of the top long ball shooters in the state, it’s her TIMEX mentality because she takes plenty of licks yet keeps on ticking.  She stepped up several times and sent messages to those watching

2017

Bianca Hernandez- 5’6 guard (SA Stars)- From where she was a little over a year ago to now shows what type of work ethic she has. Not satisfied with just being a three point shooter, she’s turning into a scorer with an arsenal that’s loaded

Dannia Gonzalez-5’9 guard (Shooting For Success)-Good size and energy is what caught my eye at first however watching her make pinpoint passes through traffic really did it. She’s a mismatch waiting to happen and I expect big things down the road

Jade LeBlanc-Ernest-5’7 guard (Pearland Hawks)- Okay what battle will she win next is my question. She’s become more aggressive on both ends and now she’s shooting the three at a high percentage but one thing is for sure, she will surprise me again

Kamaya Miller-5’10 forward (A-Gane Athletes)-She has to potential to be a BEAST is what I said about her last season, well she’s showing me that she’s getting close. Relentless on the boards plus taking a lick attacking the basket and finishing shows me she’s been working

 

2019

Reagan Montgomery-5’6 guard (Centex Elite 2019)-Smart and steady is what I saw a month and a half ago but I’m seeing more than just that. She sees the floor and is very unselfish yet she knows when it’s time to take over. I also love the way she reads the defense, steals galore

Ginger Reece- 5’10 forward (Oklahoma Select 2019 Red)- I don’t know what impressed me more, her size, smarts or ability but nevertheless the young lady had college coaches asking me who this kid was. Reece is strong and can finish as she simply overpowers defenders
