2014 #SBEX Tip Sheet

 2014 SBEX Hearne

 ASHLEY HEARNE

SAN ANTONIO, Texas-Ray Caldwell’s events just continue to grow and with over 80 teams in attendance from as far away as El Paso in Texas as well as Oklahoma and Arkansas, this past weekend, there were several she’s who were ballin. Quick notes before the Tip Sheet, Chelsea Dungee simply places San Antonio Finest in the mix as one of the top teams in Texas and one you better watch out for nationally. Cy Fair Ogwumike is the best team I’ve seen in the state and with “The Incredible Mulk” back in the fold, they will contend for Nike Nationals. I usually pick 10 for my Tip Sheet , this time it’s 11,  and I didn’t want to put any middle school players on here but Charli Collier is sometimes a woman amongst girls, this happened to be one of those times. I’ll throw a non-high school Tip Sheet at you later

2014 SBEX Smith

BRITTANY SMITH

2014

Amber Richard-5-6 combo-Texas Elite Adidas Adipure- Richard just joined the squad and her presence was felt immediately as she came off the bench to jump start the offense. She knows who to get the ball to and when, plus her midrange was a huge help as well

2015

Rakia Lane-5’8 guard-Team Arkansas Elite 2015 Williams- I knew I had this young lady before, special thanks to her coach for reminding me. Lane is super quick and exciting, just a dominant player on both ends that simply can make things happen, read more

Ashley Hearne-6’5 post-Team Express- Hearne has always shown superior athleticism however she did something I’ve seen few players do, men or women. Hearne palmed a rebound out of the air, not snagged, palmed and in the same motion brought it back in for a lay-up. She also dominated in the paint on both ends throughout the event

Brittany Smith-5’8 guard-Cy Fair Fort Bend-She can run the one or two, play the three or four if needed but her biggest attributes are she makes her teammates better, she knows how  to score on a variety of ways and with her knowledge of the game, she gets it done in the flow

2016

Nancy Mulkey-6’9 post-Cy Fair Ogwumike- I love pulling for this kid because she just continues to comeback after injuries and look like nothing was ever wrong. She’s a triple double waiting to happen, I ran out of ink marking the shots she altered and her taking her midrange game even farther is tall, like 80 inches

Areanna  Combs-5’11 wing-Another Level (Oklahoma)-She plays bigger than she is, much of that is due to her arm length, much of it has to do with her “ups” and much of it because she can play. She’s a super athlete that showed she could score coming right at you or over you. One of the best open court players at the event

Annabelle Tovar-57 guard-San Antonio Islanders-She’s one of many guards in San Antonio that impress me and over the weekend, she simply took it to another level. Smart and quick, she can drop them from NBA range but what she really does even better is set her teammates up when she’s double and triple teamed

Chelsea Dungee-5’10 guard-San Antonio Finest-I knew she could play last season, I mean like BCS play but over the weekend, well how about this. She’s stronger and more physical, her midrange is simply impeccable, and she rebounds on both ends. She’s also very unselfish and adds a unique element to an already talented team

Natasha Mack-6’5 post- Texas Adidas Elite Crazy Fast-Mack’s biggest problem was being aggressive and finishing when I laid eyes on her a couple of years ago however that’s changed. She’s simply a beast and can control the tempo from the five. Excellent timing enables to block shot’s continuously plus she is developing range outside the paint

Mykiel Buleson-5-8 guard-Texas United Nike-She’s fast, with the ball on offense, and is scary trying to guard from the wing.  She turns into a nightmare on defense as she can defend on or off ball, plays the passing lanes with precision and can score from the outside

2018

Charli Collier-6’4-forward- Cy Fair Shock 15u National Walker- Collier is a Tip Sheet waiting to happen, she’s blown me away with crossover moves and midrange jumpers already this club season but her dominance in the paint over the weekend was simply amazing as she was almost unstoppable. In one game she scored 60% of the teams point s while shooting over 60%,
