6th Grade Division Tip Sheet #SimmieColsonClassic

MIA ZUNIGA & BROOKLYN WONG

I’m dropping 10 of the top players from the event right here, okay 11, right now and later than I wanted to yet with so many irons in the fire, the flame was hot yet this was a great PLATFORM for many players to get on the map. I know many of you get amped up reading nonsense posted by idiots about you have to do this and you have to do that yet my daughter played on an INDEPENDENT team that I coached and had over D1 offers, or half of what an EYBLY coach was bragging about 4 of his teams had combined so the most important thing I want to tell you is don’t get caught in the hype, worry about competing and getting better. I’ll also drop mini-stories on each team from this group on my BLOG so stay tuned and remember, there is no me

2028

Brooklyn Wong (League City Sharks)- is already on the verge of being LOCKED in at D1 because of a few things I see and since I’m a true evaluator, her game just speaks for itself starting with she’s long and athletic, understands how to create her shot under pressure and can knock it down with a hand in her face. Mid to long-range, off the dribble, she finds ways to put the ball in the basket and she sees the floor. You know what, lock her in

Adarra Vanderford (League City Sharks) her size, hands, and footwork are all quite nice as she showed me some throwback stuff at a young age. I loved watching her go after the ball off the rim and not waiting for it, doing things instinctively is always good, well like playing the passing lane at her size as well as scoring on putbacks, after contact, yet she also did a good job defending in the paint

Alisela Rangel (Lady Diamonds) when I saw her name I teared up because it’s the same last name of one of my best friends in life and although he’s no longer here, she is definitely on her way because of her mindset, the way she reacts in certain situations are things you can’t teach yet her quick hands got her countless steals, she scored after contact off the dribble and showed she could drop the midrange with ease

Evan Ayala (Lady Diamonds) her desire to play pressure defense just grabbed me as showed she enjoyed getting after it “on the ball” and she had a ball doing it as she forced turnovers and came away with some steals but she also attacked the basket from various angles and scored after the lick, nice court vision as well as solid upside

Alyssa Ramirez (Lady Diamonds) her picture below sort of gives you a glimpse as she’s “long and athletic” and can take the defender off the dribble, with either hand so yeah, she scores at times effortlessly while floating through the air but what’s going to make her even harder to handle is that she elevates on her jumper and that pull-up will create some problems

ALYSSA RAMIREZ

Kyanna Lacour (TNBA 12U) nice first step, finishes after contact and applies heat on the defensive end but guess what else, she dives on the floor for loose balls, and on day 2, she showed she could score with the midrange

Brylee Naccara (TNBA 12U) size is a definite plus yet you have to keep adding because of her desire, I love things you can’t teach and she battles for the ball off the rim but her upside is really nice, especially when you factor in she can drop the midrange

Phaedra Douglas (DBK) athletic guard that can handle the ball under pressure and observing her zig-zagging by the defense in the open court had me smiling because she already gets it, everything else will fall into place but she sees the floor, scores off the dribble and also defends “on the ball”

Ellie Lester (DBK) I use the acronym SDM which means size don’t matter and amended to “when you can play” and her BB-IQ is definitely going to have her in the mix as she does the little things that become big. Attacks from various angles and creates her shot nicely

Mariella Beechum (Houston United) I already dropped something on her squad on the BLOG but I wanted to add something about her. I already see improvement from a few weeks ago, developing to me is like a POLAROID, right before my eyes so this nonsense being spewed is sad but I love her upside, she’s tall, long, and athletic and does things fluidly so her upside is somewhat scary

2029

Mia Zuniga (League City Sharks)– she’s been bouncing a ball almost since day 1 as her dad has been around helping teach for, well ever so observing her and where she is speaking volumes because her poise along tells me what she will be as she comprehends how to control the tempo at this stage, playing up yet she also can score and take over a game, that also is huge so her mid to long and off the dribble will all be hard to handle and speaking of handle she does that with the ball under pressure
