2028 Girls Jr Phenoms Top Performers

As I close out my Girls Jr Phenoms coverage with the 2028 class, well who knows, I may drop something on Prep Girls Hoops Texas, I’m the regional scout for them also, yet the abundance of talented players who showed me NEXT-LEVEL POTENTIAL was overwhelming so here ya go

Abby Berger

Berger is over “the magic number” already and at 6’3, she will be on the shortlist for many college programs. She’s strong and understands how to use her body around the basket, on both ends, and watching her score fluidly in the paint, sometimes with players literally hanging on her, was nice. She also gave me a glimpse of the “hands and footwork” but her timing to block shots as well as her rebounding on both ends also stood out

Addie Sapp

Sapp showed she could get by the defender to attack the basket multiple times, her first step is powerful yet so are her finishes, including after contact. She also has good body control, which played a part but watching her not only rebound on both ends but handle the ball and go coast to coast to score was nice, so was her court vision in transition as she made good decisions on which teammate to hit. Her jumper was also nice, mid to long-range

Addison Greeley

Greeley showed good timing every time I saw her and watching her block shots with ease was nice, but so was seeing her play the passing lane and handle the ball after the steal. She attacked the basket in the set, solid body control on her finishes but she also saw the floor both in the set as well as off the dribble. She created her shot under pressure to drop the jumper and she hit the boards on both ends

Alexandra Evans

Evans created her shot under pressure with ease and showed that she could drop the jumper or take the defender off the dribble using a deceptive first step, with either hand. Even more impressive was she finished with either hand, after contact but her body control played a part in that. Speaking of hands, on the flip she came away with steals applying on-the-ball pressure and her court vision was solid

Allison De La O

De La O immediately grabbed my attention with not only her defense but playing the passing lane which is something I love to see players do. She rebounded, handled the ball in the open court, and saw the floor in transition but she also saw the floor in the halfcourt. She attacked the basket from multiple angles and showed solid body control on her finishes. Her pull-up jumper was also effective, from mid to long range

Blayklee Reed

Reed is a couple of inches under the magic number yet she plays like she’s already there. Her hands and footwork created problems for the defender as she finished after contact around the basket. She rebounded on both ends, even went coast to coast a few times to either score or dish, yet her court vision also stood out in the set. She was solid defensively and played the passing lane

Haidyn VanDam

VanDam is a long and athletic guard, that too is the base and her baseline-to-baseline pressure was nice, and so was her rebounding on both ends, over taller players. Some of that was because she understands positioning and some of it was because of her DESIRE and I love things you can’t teach. She also did a good job attacking the basket, deceptive first step is always a plus but so was her court vision

Harmony Cooper

Cooper also showed a deceptive first step to attack the basket but watching her rebound and go coast to coast and show the FLOATA while going full speed, several times, was very nice. She saw the floor both in the set as well as in transition and her passes were crisp and on the money in traffic and if threading the needle wasn’t enough, she also showed she could score from outside, and even gave me a glimpse of her step back

Kayla Hamilton

Hamilton is “heady” meaning her comprehension of the game is really good so when you factor in she “plays within herself” and doesn’t try things out of the ordinary, that’s big. Her skill set is nice, she saw the floor and handled the ball under pressure but she also scored off the dribble using either hand. Her pull-up jumper also needs to be mentioned along with her solid defense

Isabella Warner

Warner is on the cover because she was hard to cover and watching her blow by the defender in transition was nice but so were her acrobatic finishes. She rebounded over taller players. also scored on putbacks, went coast to coast to score as well as hit teammates but her body control was among the best at the camp. Her pull-up jumper from mid to long range was tough, so was her spin move in traffic going full speed

Jai Johnson

Johnson was another long and athletic guard that scored off the dribble. She showed good body control on her finishes after contact included. She also showed good timing to not only block shots but to also play the passing lane and her ability to handle the ball under pressure stood out after the steal as she saw the floor to hit teammates for good looks. She also rebounded and handled the ball coast to coast to score or dish

Jocelyn Harvey

Harvey falls into that hashtag I use a lot and that’s #sizedontmatter because, yep she can play. She’s heady, plays within herself, and also understands how to get hers in the flow, all may seem little yet they turn out to be big in the long run. She set the defender up to attack the basket with a slight HEZ and she finished strongly but her defense was solid and so was her playing the passing lane

Kailee Kilebert

Kilebert created her shot under pressure in every game I caught her and even more importantly was she knocked down while being defended. She also scored off the dribble, attacking the basket with either hand but her court vision off the dribble was nice as well as in the set. She showed baseline-to-baseline pressure and she battled for loose balls, including diving on the floor

Kaleigh Sweigart

Sweigart scored off the dribble using that deceptive first step and finished after contact, good body control helped, over taller defenders but again, #sizedontmatter when you can play. She did a good job creating her shot and showed she could knock down the mid to long-range jumper while being defended. She played the passing lane and her court vision was solid

Kayly Cline

Cline was another player that had that deceptive first step figured out to attack the basket and finish, solid body control is always a plus, but she also created spacing to get her shot off and knocked the jumper down. Her court vision was also good but her “on the ball” pressure helped create turnovers as she came away with some steals. One more time #sizedontmatter when you can play

Keeley Moseley

Moseley was another player that grabbed my attention early with the heat she applied defensively. Her baseline to baseline pressure was tough, she also defended in the halfcourt but she attacked the basket hard and finished strongly, after the lick. Her COP, change of pace, was really good in transition as she got by the defender with ease but her pull-up jumper from mid to long-range was also very good

Landrie Fite

Fite was one of many #sizedontmatter players that left a lasting first impression and her BATTLING for everything gets her the #THROWBACK hashtag as well. She’s one of those “never takes a play-off” type of player, her on-the-ball pressure was smothering in the set as well as “baseline to baseline”. She also did a good job seeing the floor as well as scoring off the dribble

Luv Finch

Finch applied heat defensively every time I caught her and her baseline to baseline pressure, coupled with her quick hands helped to create turnovers. She played the passing lane well and handled the ball in the open court after rebounding, which she did on both ends. She attacked strongly and finished after contact, she also saw the floor yet her FLOATA was nice, and so was her jumper from the midrange

Maddalene Minner

Minner is already creating problems for the defender as she understands how to not only create her shot under pressure, her shot selection is really good at this stage. She dropped it from mid to long range, with a hand in her face, and equally impressive was being able to catch and shoot the ball while dropping it consistently. She attacked the basket to score and also showed good court vision in the set and in transition

Maddisyn Kent

Kent did what I love to see over and over and that’s, you guessed it, played the passing lane. Her reading the floor and putting the effort in to go get the ball stood out, and so did her handling the ball and seeing the floor afterward. She also saw the floor in the halfcourt, she attacked the basket with either hand and finished after contact. Her defense was also solid

Olivia Lewis

Lewis falls into that #sizedontmatter category I constantly bring up because she can play. She won’t back down and relishes the challenge as her “on the ball” pressure was nice both in the set as well as in the halfcourt. She saw the floor in the open court as well as in the halfcourt. She attacked the basket multiple times and showed she could finish

Riley Phillips

Philips is a shade under “the magic number” which is 6’0 in case you missed it earlier but don’t miss this. Her upside is really good based on what she’s showing. Her timing was impressive as she came from out of nowhere to block shots yet she also altered or deflected a few. She rebounded and ran the floor on both ends, she scored around the basket after contact and her interior defense was nice

Taige Norwood

Norwood is yet another #sizedontmatter guard but her ability to fill up the stat sheet in the flow was nice. She rebounded and handled the ball coast to coast to score or dish but her court vision in the open court was really good. Also in the open court, she showed a variety of moves including the crossover as well as the HEZ to get by the defender. Her jumper was solid and so was her defense

Ada O’ Suoj

O’Suoj is “long ad athletic” and that will always be the base because not only do I love evaluating that profile, and so do many college coaches and they offer next-level opportunities. She scored off the dribble, nice body control on her finishes and her pull-up jumper will give her options as she continues to progress on the court. She also rebounded on both ends and played the passing lane and did a good job defensively

Sienna Buenrostro

Buenrostro was not only solid defensively showing her on the ball pressure baseline to baseline, she also showed quick heads and came away with steals. She handled the ball and saw the floor under pressure yet her energy also stood out as she went after everything, in the air as well as on the floor. She did a good job of creating her shot and knocking it down from outside
