2021 Duel State All-Star Games 7th Grade (2026) Tip Sheet pt 2

Certain things just popped out at me immediately in this group and one was seeing them battle and staying in the fight, this is a lost are, trust me, with numerous resources out there as well as nonsense being sold, one thing will remain true if you understand and implement the basics, fundamentals, and comprehend the simple things, like long and athletic, that too is the base but there are certain things you can’t teach no matter what you’ve been taught and that’s desire so here some 3.4 and 5 type players that were in the mix every time I looked

CORA BENNETT & ANI’YAH MASON

Hannah Bond-F (Baylor) good hands and footwork, not to leave out size, she was one of the many that “stayed with it” off the glass and not only did she follow the ball, she followed her shot, another lost art and seeing her attack from multiple angles, finish with contact, that includes putbacks, she showed she has the tools to be a force inside

Paytyn Armstrong-F (Baylor) attacked the basket strongly while finishing the same way, this includes after the lick but her deceptive first step sort of kept the defenders guessing and on top of that, she did a good job rebounding, on both ends of the court, as well as playing the passing lane and her upside is really good

Sara McFarlin-PF (Dallas Baptist) UPS in CAPS means just that and when you talk about good upside, let me add scary in that as well because she’s long and athletic and understands how to create her shot, especially off the dribble and with her UPS, she elevates over defenders to finish yet her timing on blocks as well as rebounding all caught my eye

Averie Steele-P (Dallas Baptist) did a good job of using her body to set the defender up, nice hands and footwork, finished with both hands, after contact but she also rebounded strongly and runs the floor after, this includes running and finishing after igniting the break with the outlet pass. Her defense was strong inside the paint, another bonus

Cora Bennett-F (North Texas) another long and athletic player with some very good upside to go with excellent timing because her ability to block, deflect or just alter was impressive, especially at her age but just as impressive was seeing her attack either in the half-court or open court, not to mention face the basket and score

Cynthia Maynes-PF (North Texas) strong inside play is always good and she was consistently bringing it whether it was defending or rebounding, that includes both ends of the court but she also did a nice job finishing on putbacks as well as taking defenders off the dribble. She also falls into that “you won’t outwork me” category

CHANEL SHULER

Chanel Shuler-PF/P (Paul Quinn) the progression this young lady continues to show is something else because, with her size and body, she’ll have numerous offers to play college ball and as she progresses, it’s going to be crazy, but seeing her finish with players hanging on her, literally, was something as she commands the ball inside and scores with both hands. The rebounding, defense and running the floor add fuel to the fire

Ani’yah Mason-F (Paul Quinn) did a good using her athleticism as she battled for rebounds on both ends and her mindset and determination showed, well so did the fact that she’s under control on offense and finished with power and that, as well as moving her feet on the defensive end all are good signs

Ariela Polley-PF (TCU) does a lot of different things that could have her playing multiple positions but seeing her create her shot, under pressure, and hit the midrange, another lost art, definitely got my attention because she did it numerous times. She also attacks the basket strong from the wing, good body control helped her finish after contact

Aysia Gholston-P (TWU) strong body and plays strong and it definitely showed as she rebounded with authority. She kept the ball high, igniting the break but she also finished on the inside after contact. Her upside is good, she has a nice feel for certain things, especially attacking the rim straight down the middle and finishing

Pressley Powell-SF (UT Arlington) turning into an absolute terror as she wants the ball under pressure, big time 40 footer in the clutch to help her squad win championship but her mid to long-range game continues to evolve, she attacks so powerfully that and with her strength, she’s an “and one” waiting to happen, defense ain’t bad either

Amari Byles-F (UT Arlington) BCS offers are on the table but the table ain’t set as she keeps showing she’s a national player. Long and athletic, beginning to do something that’s hard to do, control a game on both ends and with her rebounding and shot-blocking is part of it, playing the passing lane and going the length of the court is another or scoring in the paint with either hand or stepping outside of it dropping shots has many on notice
