TIERRA SIMON (SHOOTING STARZ)

PASADENA, TEXAS- Nothing like covering a first-class event and Shooting 4 Da Cure hosted by the Houston Lady Roadrunners continues to be just that and let me tell you this, what I look for in every event is to find talented new players that can play at the next level as well as players I’ve already seen who’ve already shown me they could do just that, continue to show progression. The out of town teams from afar, College Station Lady Thunder with three and even farther, the San Antonio Lady Hoops showed once again that talent is everywhere but many of the local teams and kids I’ve had my eyes on forever, the Shooting Starz gave me several moments not to mention the continued improvement the Lake Houston Angels but I’m dropping a Tip Sheet on the event, special S/O to those teams that got their rosters to me, it’s kind of hard talking about someone if you don’t know their name but some were like Alicia Keys and I did ask but anyway, more coming on social media, @girlzprepreport as well as my blog

Tierra Simon-post (Shooting Starz) over 6’0, ultra-athletic, battles after everything off the boards on both ends, good hands and footwork, finishes, legitimized a lot of things for next level

Ashlyn Jones-wing (Skyrise Edmonds) talk about “keeps adding more” but Jones either glides by or elevates over defenders, mid to long or off the dribble, she’s hard to contain

Sincere Roberts-guard (3T) that first step creates problems and in the open court you can almost forget about stopping her. She’s under control and plays baseline to baseline from the tip

'19 Cure Lord

ABBY LORD (SHOWCASE ELITE)

Abby Lord-forward (Showcase Elite) hadn’t seen her in a couple of years but to say I’m even more impressed would be an understatement. You can’t teach effort, she’s in the stands or on the floor for the loose ball, she defends and rebounds and she’s scoring in the paint or hitting the midrange

Trinity Valentine- post (TXE Alpha Bounce) the jumps she keeps making keeps me watching. Physical, defends well in the paint and rebounds on both ends, not to forget she’s finishing well

Brandi Dunn-guard (Texas Elite Lady Warriors) I can’t emphasize how important it is to play the passing lane correctly and she Dunn that well. Long, athletic and showed a nice midrange game

Jada Holiday-point guard (Houston Elite) slicing to the basket and hitting the open man is not that easy but she makes things happen and ignites her squad. Understands how to control tempo and can score

Winter George-guard (TXE 2021 BOOST) fast is one thing, fast with the ball is another and she can control it as she blows by for baskets but she also brings heat on the other end

Heaven Ford-guard (Lady Thunder Silver) name preceded her as well as her game and when I see a kid dropping the long ball from another stratosphere over and over, yeah, I see it coming

Danielle Alabi-wing (MI-3 Bounce) excellent timing on top of explosiveness off of the ground, her athleticism can turn things around on both ends

'19 Cure Turner

ZIMIA TURNER (LADY THUNDER 12U)

Zimia Turner-guard (Lady Thunder 12U) I love when I ask players can they play and they respond come see. I’m loving her swag and upside not to mention what she already does, score in droves

Dai Dai Powell-forward (Skyrise Mike) athletic and long is always good especially when you have good timing, that creates problems on defense, and a good shot, mid to long, that creates problem for defense

Olyvia Brooks-forward (Lady Thunder Black) you can’t teach fire and desire and she wants it and she wants it badly and her size and strength are great attributes because she has “ups” and finishes strong

Aniyah Sanford-point guard (TXE 2022-White) heady and under control, playing up and when you think the game at an early age, everything will fall into place as she understands how to run a team and takeover when needed

Asia Waddell-guard (Cy Fair 8th) that growth spurt on and off the court is definitely showing me a lot. She’s playing up and making things happen on both ends, good things and I just love her upside especially watching her attack from, well everywhere

Brandolyn Frost-forward (Superstar Clippers Varsity) athleticism enables her to do a lot of positive things, she’s long helps too but she gets to the basket almost at will and finishes plus she elevates strongly

'19 Cure Morales

SARAH MORALES (SAN ANTONIO LADY HOOPS)

Amanda Turpin-guard (3220) solid offensive player that can just shoot the lights out when she gets in the zone and her range is somewhat unlimited

Ella Folse-forward (Katy Crush) this club has officially moved ahead of Orange Crush as a must-see talented squad and Folse’s length and agility lets her do many things that are pluses. Rebounds, scores, defends and when I say score, in the flow

Samora Watson -guard (Be A 9th Wonder) two things, wait two HUGE things, the first step and the stop and pop sort of sets the stage for other stuff but she’s strong and athletic and finishes with contact

Jade Williams-guard (Lake Houston) long, athletic and young with plenty of energy and she’s showing signs of being a “beast” as she gets it done instinctively on both ends. Nice pull-up and off the dribble but her timing is impeccable

Sarah Morales-guard (San Antonio Lady Hoops) a variety of threes from every angle imaginable throughout the event is one thing but the poise under pressure is another and she keeps adding

Kailyn Peters-guard (Cy Fair White) she’s exciting to watch, she’s old school and just brings “it” at you and that “never takes a play off mentality” on both ends, can turn games around
