WNBA Tip Sheet from #IBC

2014 IBC Champs Phenom duo

CYPRESS, Texas- The Insiders Basketball Classic open like it closed, with a bang. Because I’m also part of the Insiders organization, when we host a tournament I have multiple roles and over the weekend, I coached, was a site director and still manage to observe 90% of the teams at least once and for those teams that sent in rosters, I’ll come back and do mini stories on your squad, I keep immaculate records, well when I can read what I’ve written, so please be patient as I drop ten for the Tip Sheet

2015

Joyce Kennerson (Phenoms) – I enjoy watching Joyce simply because she brings so much energy and makes things happen. Size doesn’t matter, she backs down from no one and with her shot rolling toward automatic status and July will be huge for her

Adriiana Jackson ( Houston Elite)– Nothing like learning to spell someone’s name when they’re close to graduating but Jackson too is a “size doesn’t matter” guard and she put huge numbers over the weekend

Gracie Davis  ( MC Legends) – First she steals the ball and makes an acrobatic lay-up, then she blocks a shot, then an assist and I’m just wondering what’s up next. Davis also showed she could shoot the mid and long range jumpers

Joi Simmons (Houston Elite) -Simmons is worth double digit points without scoring a basket because she simply makes her teammates better. Good size and strength has her high on my list and several colleges as well because when needed, she can take a game over

Alexus Dukes (Austin Elite)– Super energy that seems to run off solar power is how I’d describe Dukes. She can defend and I mean the way it’s supposed to be done, baseline to baseline and score in droves

2016

Eryka Sidney (Insiders) – She continues to amaze, not just with the razzle dazzle she has in her arsenal of weapons but the fact that she just makes her teammates better. Sidney averaged over 20 ppg for the event, scoring from a variety of ways while dishing out 7 apg. Her outside shooting simply comes from everywhere plus she can defend

Taylor Alexander (Dominators) -Alexander has been working on her game and it’s showing. I always liked her strength as she outrebounded taller players but the offense was impressive over the weekend as she put up numbers

Allison Goss (Katy Rebels-Goss) -No one loves a success story that includes a comeback and when you throw in the fact that it’s done by a “size doesn’t matter” player, if I wore a hat I’d take it off. I don’t but her games has taken off to yet another level as she’s running the team, making plays and hitting some acrobatic shots that I love to see

Quatera Limbrick (Lady Roadrunners) –Undoubtedly one of the best catch and shoot players in the state but because her accuracy is so high, you need to guard this kid like glue. When she’s on, she’s among the best shooters around and she’s usually on but her defense and taking defenders off the dribble elevated her stock

2017

Sieera Cheetam (Cy Fair-Walker)– It’s almost like just reach in and grab one from this team and although “Tip Sheet Charli” gets a S/O yet again, Cheetam has elevated her game. She’s long and around the magic number but the long ball is falling and she has plenty of time

Lindsey Treadway (Houston Premier-Blue) – The more I watch this young lady, the more I see she’s adding to her game. At her size and doing what she does, it’s a plus, especially at her age. Great footwork in the paint enables her to score now she’s attacking from the wing for baskets. No telling how high she’ll end up

2018

Monet Jones (Houstonians)-Jones is a shade over six feet, very athletic and can go. She’s a D1 player, no question about that, but once she realizes how good she is, college coaches will be knocking each other down to get this kid, literally speaking
