Wildcats Won’t Be Tamed Anytime Soon
MEASHEL CROSBY-YOUNG, LAURA FAIR & ARIEL TAYLOR
Is it possible for a team to lose a player that averaged over 30 ppg, win their district and advance in the playoffs to actually get better? The answer for the Wheatley Wildcats is absolutely yes and that will be due partly to the return of their backcourt of Meashel Crosby-Young and Ariel Taylor and the improvement Laura Fair who have been putting in the work during the club season and showing signs that the void of losing Dimonisha “Ne-Ne” Sophus, one off the leading scorers in the country last season, can be filled. I have a strong feeling that this trio of 2014 players stock will rise considerably during the July viewing period for a number of reasons, Fair, who at 6’1is still raw in some areas however she always possesses a college ready body and has spent a lot of extra time conditioning to get ready. Still a little “nice “at times on the court but whenever that killer instinct starts to stick in her head, she will be able to create some problems. Nice wouldn’t describe the energy and heat the dynamic backcourt of Crosby and Taylor brings on just about every play. I recall seeing these two young ladies while they were still in middle school and knew they would be players to be reckoned with and if I was as good at picking lotto numbers as calling young talent I certainly wouldn’t be this, or would I? Both young guards are capable of putting numbers in bunches, Crosby with a flair for the acrobatics, can be pretty exciting while Taylor’s physique is somewhat powerful and at times appears to have a gigantic “S” on the front of her jersey going the hoop but what is probably more impressive than anything, at least to me, is the heat these two can bring on defense.
