UNSIGNED Shalayne Morgan erupts for 33
One more time, it’s not what you do, it’s who you do it against, and one of the state’s top unsigned players, Shalayne Morgan (North Shore) went off for 33 in their loss against one of the state’s top teams, Summer Creek and trust me, that isn’t easy
Summer Creek is one of the best defensive teams in Texas, but I have been saying for years that Morgan is an explosive scorer, and here’s why. She can leave defenders standing in the open court using that extra “boost” plus her first step in the set also creates problems.
Watching her acrobatic finishes, many times after contact is special, which is an understatement. She also drops the mid to long-range jumper, with a hand in her face, and on the flip, she plays with an equal amount of intensity on the defensive end.
She’s an athletic guard that grabs rebounds on both ends over and over, yes she battles for boards against players over “the magic number” which is 6’0, and with her ]standing at 5’8, that gets the #THROWBACK hashtag
Here’s another of her attributes that you just can’t teach, she falls into that “never takes a play-off” category and when you find players who play that way, whether up or down 20 or more, that’s something you just can’t teach
