Top Performers JV Division/16U Texas #AllEyesOnShe
The abundance of young talent, some not even in high school yet, had me smiling but here are the top performers from the division
T’Anna Evans-5’11 G (2029) SA Hoops Elite -After reading so much about her online, I had to make it a point to catch her in person yet a couple of minutes was all I needed because she is on the verge of being a major problem. She uses her body well and watching her set the defender up using a slight HEZ to attack and finish after contact was nice, and so was her body control. She hit the boards, played solid defense, and also played the passing lane
Aniyra Peoples-6’1 F (2028) SA Hoops Elite is “long and athletic” which is and always will be the base and with her still being in middle school, she’s showing some impressive signs and let me start with her timing to block, alter and (or) deflect shots. She reacts and recovers well on the defensive end, she rebounds on both ends of the court and she showed she could score around the basket as well as off the dribble
Zoe Barron-5’4 G (2027) SA Hoops Elite proved #sizedontmatter when you can play and she brought a lot to the table for the 1, you know, where the game starts. Her handling the ball and making decisions under pressure was nice, and so was her court vision yet she also did a good job attacking the basket off the dribble and finishing. She dropped the pull-up jumper and she did a good job defensively, including playing the passing lane
Jenna Hoffman-5’6 G (2026) Hill Country created her shot under pressure to attack the basket or drop the jumper, which she did with a hand in her face but she also showed she could nail it in transition. She saw the floor both in the set as well as in the open court, she showed she could defend “on the ball” but she also read the court and played the passing lane
What can I say about this talented Phoenix 2027 squad other than they have been working and after a successful viewing period showing across the board, they kept it going at the event so here were some of the standouts
Audrey Richardson- 6’2 F upside continues to be scary because she’s long and athletic, remember that is the base, and her turnaround jumper in the paint is special. She’s facing the basket and dropping the midrange, she’s attacking from the wing yet her aggressiveness is taking off and it showed watching her go AFTA everything off the rim
Josie Cramer-5’8 G slices by the defender off the dribble so well that she’s beginning to do it effortlessly yet her energy on both ends has always been an attraction, whether it’s using her hands to come away with steals playing “on the ball” defense or finishing strongly after contact but her court vision was in full effect in transition and so was her playing the passing lane
Katelyn Olds-5’11 G has already sealed her addition to the Top 100 Watchlist because she’s a big guard who can not only shoot but shoot with confidence. After all, her mindset is “You can’t stop me” and watching her mix it up to score off the dribble and finish after contact gives her options. She also did a good job defending in the set and hitting the boards
Peyton Griffin-5’11 G is showing a variety of intangibles to go along with her diving for loose balls and applying heat on the defensive end. Her skillset and comprehension always stand out as she understands positioning to rebound on both ends yet she’s handling the ball after and showing good court vision in transition and the set. Her midrange looked good and she scored off the dribble and around the basket
Alli Malley-6’2 C is showing more “power in the paint” and her finishing with players hanging on her should paint the picture. She hits the boards well, understands how to ignite the break, and runs the floor, on both ends. Her soft touch facing the basket was nice yet so was her putting it on the floor and score. Timing has gotten better, so has her defense outside the paint
Marlee Milam-5’8 F pull-up jumper in the set as well her stop-and-pop in transition was nice
Lexi Glenn-5’7 G showed me her “change of direction” and that COD is always a treat as she scored smoothly off the dribble
#41 hit the boards strongly and scored around the basket, putbacks included
