Timberview clicking on all cylinders opening day
There was no shortage of thrillers that kept you guessing until the very end or players who completely dominated from their positions on opening day at the Mansfield Rotary Invitational Tournament. One of the teams I was looking forward to seeing was Arkansas Cabot who provided some of last season’s excitement at the same event. Cabot was forced to with draw due to bad weather however another team from Arkansas, Har-Ber, pulled off one of the big shockers of the day as they defeated San Antonio Wagner. Speaking of San Antonio, or at least the area, Cibolo Steele was without Kyra Lambert, a 2015 I was hoping to see who has already committed to Texas A&M. No worries for Steele in round one as Mackenzie Calvert, a 2014 who has already committed to Baylor, simply put together one of the best offensive performances I’ve seen this season.
The same could be said for Lili Thompson (Timberview) and Jada Terry (Cedar Hill) or even Aundra Stovall (Seguin) in a losing performance against Steele. Canyon once again came from behind and won a game, this time against Trimble Tech who appeared to be clicking on all cylinders throughout the first half. Also not playing was Alyssa Dry, a 2015 that has committed to Texas, so even though I was disappointed at not seeing some of the players I had hoped to see, there was enough talent to keep me busy so stay tuned
