Texas Preps Elite loaded Red, White and Blue
TPE RED
I already knew Texas Preps Elite was bringing some heavy hitting talent to the Houston Insiders Hoopfest even before Coach Kevin Brown informed me. I already knew about two players on TPE-Red, Angela Harris and Jae Branch, two local players who are coming off fantastic freshmen seasons in high school as they solidify their GPR Texas Top 100 rankings. With next level stars galore throughout the program, I’ll give you a rundown on what I saw and I’ll definitely catch them again in the near future
Texas Preps Elite Red
Taylor Jones (2014) showed she could run a team at the next level based her smarts alone however the intangibles she possesses are countless. Styles Sanders (2014) initials say it all as she was smooth as silk sinking the midrange jumpers. Kaelyn Thomas (2013) and Brianna Thomas (2014) are the types of guards you need because they were interchangeable as they could bring heat on defense with their speed, not to mention break presses with their handles. Noel Hunt (2014) used her body quite well and did some damage under the basket as well as from 10-15 feet, in other words in spite of her 5’8 height, she got the job done inside or out. Everyone needs a post and Kaelin Montgomery (2014) is 6’2, need I say more
Texas Preps Elite White
I already said how much Adrianna Dunn impressed me and with her being a freshman at 6’3, there isn’t much else to say except she hasn’t even reached her potential. With only one 2015 player, Kayla Thompson and one 2017, Tyesha Brown with everyone else being in that magical freshmen call Texas has, several young ladies stood out other than Dunn. Jaz King is athletic and can finish, not to mention play some D while Arissa Sandoval showed not only great skills but smarts. Everyone needs that long ball threat, Bailey Trevino gives them that and the athleticism Deanna Williams has is going to take her a long way. There is a difference between shooters and scorers, Khi Cooper just finds ways to put the ball in the basket and complimenting Dunn’s 6’3 is Jovita Cortez at 6’4 and one more time, need I say more
TIFFANY DUNLAP & CATHY OKWILAGE
Texas Preps Elite Blue
This is a very good 2015 squad and what I like to do is go back and look at the score sheets and compare them with notes I took during the game, just to make sure I’m on job. When you have talented players like this, it’s no problem going overtime because every game, they had different players showthey could step up, in fact they all did. Chastity Barrs has the most stars so we’ll come back to her on the big girl Tip Sheet, not just because of the rhyme. Janaya Hines has grown so fast, I didn’t know who she was but once she stepped on the court, I won’t forget because with her athleticism and wingspan on that 5’10 body, she’s in good shape. At 5’11, Tiffany Dunlap can do a number of things very well and I’m talking both ends. Maria Fluellen had everyone raving about the kid with the ponytail bringing heat, they were right. Cathy Okwilagwe is a college coaches dream because at 6’1, she’s strong, can attack from the wing and most importantly, finish. Also on that college wish list a big and at 6’3, Cynthia Rivas is not only tall, she can face the basket
