Supporting cast plays huge part in teams success
DUNCANVILLE SENIOR ADRIANNA DAVIS
I’m playing devil’s advocate sort of and observing the teams ranked on TABC that I had a chance to see up close and personal. If there was any doubt that there was a team that could rise to any occasion, it was Duncanville and their more than convincing Sandra Meadows Championship proved that. Right now, I honestly think Pflugerville is the second best team in the state with Manvel, Marcus and Bowie rounding out the top five. The second group would have Stony Point, Timberview, Steele, MacArthur, Plano West and Desoto in no particular order. Keep in mind this isn’t a Top 10 for 5A, only teams I had a chance to look at right after the Christmas break and I have to admit some of the action was hard to check out initially in the early rounds. Blame that on the layoff that UIL imposes on the Texas teams but one I thing I mentioned was the importance of the various teams supporting cast. You don’t have to be “the star” of the show, the main purpose should be to get to the big show, that’s up 290 from my house in March and if you understand your role that goes a long way in how far the team will go. There is nothing I enjoy more than watching players give their all, no matter what the score is and if I like it just imagine how those countless college coaches in attendance at both events felt.
