2014 4040 Cooper

TE’A (SUPER) COOPER

THE WOODLANDS, Texas- I had a chance to cover last season’s John Lucas 40/40 Combine and let me say that I was impressed again by not only the talented players from Texas but the surrounding states as well. I’ve already broken down various Tip Sheets and mini stories on many of the players and I still have more to come because when I cover an event, I try and touch on as much as possible because that is simply what I do. For some, their statuses were solidified and others had a chance to watch their stock rise simply because of an old saying I use over and over, “it’s not what you do, it’s who you do it against.” Here’s a dozen now and even more coming

2015

Te’a Cooper-5’9 guard-Powder Springs, GA (McEachern HS) Cooper blew me away at last year’s 40/40 and the wind hasn’t shifted as she simply can take a game over in multiple ways. Her impact at Tennessee will be felt immediately, dominant scoring threat from anywhere

Brianne Fraser-6’3 post-Brooklyn, NY (Victory Colleate HS) Powerful inside the paint but can face the basket and score. Rebounded well on both ends and showed athleticism as she she could defend on the perimeter

Aliyah Mazyck-5’9 guard-Charlotte, NC (Myers Park HS) First impression was a lasting one as she was dominant offensively. Inside or outsideas well as finishing multiple ways, she simply did whatever she wanted to and also showed she could defend

Michal Miller-5’9 guard-Michigan City, IN (Michigan City HS) Her name preceded her as I heard she was one to watch which I did and was glad I did. High intellect, great defender and could score multiple ways

2014 4040 Fingall Hubbard

NADIA FINGALL & GADIVIA HUBBARD

2016

Nadia Fingall-6’3 post-Tallahassee, FL (Choctawhatchee HS) On day one, every time I looked up she was finishing in the paint, numerous times with defenders, yes multiple, hanging on her. On day two, she showed she could face the basket and score, consistently. Very powerful player

Gadivia Hubbard-5’9 guard-Virginia Beach, VA (Princess Ann HS) didn’t take a lot of notes on this one because her performance is embedded in my head. Pull up is one of the best I‘ve seen, simply an explosive scorer that keeps coming at you

Harper Birdsong-5’11 guard-Suffolk, VA (Nansemond HS) I love watching players that not only attack hard but can finish and Birdsong is relentless at going to the basket. To top that off, she creates very well and can score from midrange

2014 4040 Walker

 MEGAN WALKER

2017

Megan Walker-6’1 guard/forward-Chesterfield, VA (Moncan, HS) I asked Walker last season had she committed and she told me she was about to enter high school so that in itself should tell you a lot. She puts the Le in LEGIT, simply at closes it with the “IT” factor

Deauzya Richards-6’1 guard/wing-Houston, TX (Cy Ranch HS) I think what I admire most about Richards is she doesn’t back down from anyone. Her mentality is simply amazing and even a minor injury didn’t stop her from making her presence felt

Jocelyn Jones-6’0 forward-Chesterfield, VA (Chesterfield, HS) Moves well around the floor, super strong finisher who’s powerful on both ends in the paint. She also showed her explosiveness when she jumps

Chastity Patterson-5’7 guard – Houston, TX- (North Shore HS) I called this young lady “The Future” in elementary school and although I love saying I told you so, this one was easy. As she masters the step back, her offensive arsenal has her almost unstoppable

2018

Charli Collier-6’4 forward/post-Crosby, TX (Barbers Hill HS) I started calling the Texas commit “Tip Sheet Charli” a few years ago because she was just about a lock every time I saw her but her dominance in the paint at this age against this level had me tweet “She was #HookEm ready right now
