Summit Division Tip Sheet -Border War 2021
I didn’t get a chance to catch a lot of the younger teams, I had to catch some of Team Griffin 2025 because let me say this, they are loaded with stars of tomorrow. I did catch some of the other teams, let me thank all who sent in rosters that included players numbers, non-erroneous, which is sort of the only way I can do my job efficiently so here we go
Laynee Stanley-6’0 PF (Fusion 2025) progression is something I always look for in players that have already caught my eye and watching her show the turnaround jumper in the paint was nice, so was her timing to block shots yet her defense and rebounding were pretty solid as well
Lilly Thomas-6’01PF (Fusion 2025) upside is intriguing because she’s already over the magic number, which is 6’0 and with nice hands and footwork plus her agility on the defensive end, she showed me a lot really quick. She rebounded on both ends and ran the floor
Valerie Norwood 5’7 PG (Kansas United 2025 Soyez) some of the things she did at this stage just stood out and one was not only seeing the floor but how she saw it and she understands how to lead the player with the pass not to leave out she attacked and finished strongly
Marayah Coleman-5’10 F (Kansas United 2025 Soyez) her nice frame enabled her to create some problems on the inside, her pull-up jumper did it on the outside yet she also has good timing and blocks shots, as well as rebounded on both ends of the floor
Brittan Zeka-5’7 G (Kansas United 2025 Soyez) enjoyed watching her handle the all and she’s shifty and understands how to not only get by defenders but get them off balance. Her crossover is smooth and fluid and it enables her to attack just about whenever she wants
Kumani Clark -6’2 P(MO Phenom 13U Carter) 74 inches of power in the making, she already gets the simple things, understands positioning and that’s on both ends of the floor yet she rebounds and finishes, she showed a soft touch facing the basket and she ran the floor
Makayla Johnson-5’6 G (Griffin BB 2025 Elite) she shows me something differently every time I see her and her upside is pretty big yet she’s creating problems now starting with she battles for rebounds, she handles the ball well and attacks the basket strongly yet her passing also stood out
Tyra McKinnie-5’9 SF (Griffin BB 2025 Elite) I’ve already compared her to one of the best players I caught young, Nneka Ogwumike and watching her go after the ball as well as catching everything brought back memories. She’s long and athletic, blocks shots, runs the floor and finishes after contact
Preslee Hartsock-5’4 G (Griffin BB 2025 Elite) she smoothly gets the job done and she does it almost effortlessly but watching her handle the ball, under pressure and create, not only her shot but shots for her teammates had me SMH. Yeah she sees the floor but those passes are ahead of her years
Ava Cooper-5’6 G (Griffin BB 2025 Elite) showed a mixture of offensive skills yet plays within herself so she can take defenders off the dribble with either hand, yes with either hand and not only does she attack from everywhere, her pull-up jumper, even in transition was very nice
Kate Wermli-5’8 G/F (Griffin BB 2025 Elite) watching her go completely off scoring the first time I saw her left me somewhat speechless, especially since she was playing up yet she creates her shot, the mid to long range is hard to handle now, I can only imagine what’s coming as well as her finishing off the dribble after contact
