Strong Class Developing for 2016
ERYKA SYDNEY
Faith Cook, Angela Harris and Jae Branch have been mentioned by me numerous times as the young ladies at the top of the list of 2016 players I have seen from the area. I’ve been watching those young ladies since they were in the sixth grade, I believe Branch was even younger and they were ahead of the game back then and continued to improve which makes a big difference. By that I mean so many kids often pan-out and what they did in middle school doesn’t necessarily translate into high school and beyond however labeling those three as can’t miss next level players wasn’t a hard decision to make based on my unique ways of observing talented players at a young age. I’m adding a few additional young ladies I had a chance to observe at the Houston Insiders Basketball Classic and will be doing something later on those who are on the verge of breaking out.
HANNAH HOPKINS
Eryka Sydney-Playing her age, she simply dominates while making her teammates better. She can handle the ball, attack and score from anywhere on the court while having a flair for the acrobatics. Playing up, she shows no fear and brings energy and excitement every time she steps on the court and will be mentioned among the best of her class in the area when she graduates
Erica Powell-Heady guard who I’ve heard about for the past two seasons and wasn’t disappointed one bit. She knows the game, picks and chooses when and where to attack and is ready for high school action right now. Solid body that can take a hit while finishing strong
Hannah Hopkins– At 6’1 with tremendous upside, she will give the “Taz” a totally different look as they rebuild to replace the “Big Three” from the 2012 class. She might be a little raw in certain areas but she has a chance to be one of if not the best post from this class
Jasmyne Harris– The Phenoms have several players that can do the same thing and many will be ranked high in their class however what has me fixated on Harris is what she can do in traffic and in the open court not to mention her play on both ends of the floor
