Springing Back Into Contention
BERNISHA PETERS
Spring hasn’t been a factor in area girls basketball since 2006 and I tabbed last season’s incoming freshmen class of Bernisha Peters. Brittany Perkins and Brittany Smith the “Killer Bees” since there were so many other “Big Threes” floating around. Peters was the only one that was able to play varsity, the other two played JV due to transfer rules however it appears they are back on track to do some damage in their wide open district. Peters has already established herself as one of the top players in the area, let alone 2015 and her relentless play on both ends makes up for her 5’0 size as she gives opponents all they can handle on both ends of the court.
BRITTANY SMITH
Smith on the other hand brings many attributes you just can’t teach and her basketball IQ alone is way ahead of most players who are older and more seasoned. Acrobatic with a knack for taking and making big time shots, she will be an integral part on Spring’s return to the playoffs..
BRITTANY PERKINS
Perkins is probably the most pleasant surprise and “in what a difference a year can make”, this young lady would be up for one of my most improved awards if I gave them out. She’s knocking down the outside shot with consistency and her defense has improved tremendously and if her improvement continues along with the addition of star in waiting Gabby Shoulders, Spring will be in the mix once again
