Klein Collins wins 2013 Conroe ISD Tournament
The Conroe ISD Tournament was my final stop and after watching some exciting basketball in the Metroplex on Friday, I was hyped in more ways than one as the Nyquil kicked in. No better to wake me up than watching Spring and their “Killer Bees” of Bernisha Peters, Brittany Smith and Brittany Perkins battle with Jersey Village in the semifinals, something the Falcons haven’t done in like a very long time however they were ignited by offensive machine Brynae Thompson. Collins is led by Jasmine Nash and Infiniti Harris as well as solid work from Riley Lopez and Quai Smith-Simms. Sophomore Rexesha Hollis just keeps getting better for the Lady Tigers but the Pride from Spring has their own X- factor G’uana Edwards. Lopez scored 15 while Nash added 10 in their 50-39 victory while Peters and Smith scored 14 each for Spring.
Cy Creek took third as Jessiaca Munoz and Darianne Williams took turns putting up numbers and I don’t who won the consolation game between Summer Creek and Conroe but I do know that I saw Jayla Calhoun at the Rice game last night and the Lady Bulldogs star took her game up a notch during the summer while Conroe’s Erica Powell’s speedy recovery from knee injury is just what the doctor ordered for the Tigerettes
