Space City Jam “Tip Sheet” and All Tournament
TORI PHILLIPS
When you attend an event for the first time, whether it’s a tournament or a camp, it’s sometimes hit or miss because you never know what to expect. Since I knew several of the players that would be playing in the Space City Jam Impact, which consisted of teams filled with homeschool players, I knew I would see some talent but I didn’t realize how much. There were several players that stood out in the tournament, I could have chosen several from HSAA alone, however I run a scouting service so I can’t break down everyone and I’ve decided on naming five for my “Tip Sheet” Below that is the coaches selections for the “All Tournament” team
ANNA MCCLEOD
Tori Phillips-guard-HSAA
Phillips showed she could get to the rim anytime she wanted to early in the tournament but what impressed me more than anything was her speed and anticipation. At times it appeared she had a turbo connected and that sudden burst of speed would make defenders appear to be standing still
Kalyn Thomas-forward-HSAA
The first time I saw Thomas attack, I knew she was player and she played aggressively on both ends of the court throughout the tournament. Like Phillips, she could get to rim or anywhere else she wanted ease, not to mention showing the ability to hit the mid-range consistently. Strong and under control, her frame enabled her to take several licks and finish
Anna McCleod-forward-SATCH
McCleod has transformed from just a long ball shooter into a scorer over the past two years and if although several players gave several highlight moments over the event , she was among those at the top of the list, this includes the guys as well. Standing close to 6’0, she can get her shot off against anyone anytime she wants and score almost effortlessly
Katy Quinones-guard-CHSA
Quinones caught my eye before the game with the bright yellow shoes and 30 seconds into the game, 25 foot jumper let me know she was one of “the girls” not only on her team but in the tournament. She has little swag about her game and rightfully so as she could fill it up from just about anywhere
Corisha Williams-point guard-New Way
Williams was the do it all player for New Way and she handled herself admirably. A quick first step and good ball handling skills enabled her to get wherever she wanted creating opportunities for not only herself but her teammates as well. She shot the long ball well but could score from just anywhere on the floor
