Space City Jam proves talent is everywhere
Anyone who knows me also knows that I’m always looking for talent that others may not know about. I’ve had a lot of luck finding next level players at many different venues and I do this for a number of reasons but the main one is Texas has talent everywhere, if you know what you’re looking at. The Space City Jam Impact featured homeschooled players and the first homeschool team I ever saw was HCYA years ago and to see them compete the way they did against public schools caught my eye. I didn’t realize how big this was until years later after THESA was popping big programs left and right with a young lady you may have heard of named Moriah Jefferson.
Several outstanding teams and players took part in the event and I’ll be bringing you bits and pieces over the next few days however I need to start with HSAA, the team that won the girls varsity division. The Metroplex has players everywhere and this team was no different as they had talent from top to bottom and after watching day one which featured HSAA, CHSA, SATCH and New Way, I tweeted I had already seen double digit next level players and I was thoroughly impressed, so impressed that I received a call from a college coach who was in the Beaumont area looking at kids and he wanted to know if there were any games going on Saturday. I responded where I’d be, he showed up and left with a smile on his face.
From high school players on down the Space City Jam truly did what it was supposed to do and that’s leave an impact and what’s even more important was the fact that several kids had a chance to showcase their skills and based on the S/O I received, they also received some interest from colleges
