SIMPLY AMAZING !
II said Irving MacArthur was the top team in Texas before the season started based on what they did during the summer against some of the top club teams in the country, that’s right country. This was primarily because of Alexis Jones, one of the best female basketball players, wait basketball players I have seen. I tagged her “Amazing Alexis” and on center stage she shined. Opening the game up with a 15 footer and then a three, Alexis set the tone for I-Mac as she led them with 9 points after the first quarter which ended with MacArthur up 11-8 despite three turnovers. Kiara Rivera kept the game close as she scored 6 of Wagner’s 8 points.
Jones club team did so well this summer because just by being on the court, she made her teammates better, this was apparent in the second quarter as the Lady Cardinals stretched the lead to 14 at the half, 30-16 without Jones scoring a point, but with Jones setting other players up for easy buckets. Eboni Watkins went into a zone in the third quarter as she dropped 3 three pointers and the momentum may have changed if Jones didn’t score six points which helped keep the lead at 14. Watkin’s continued dropping the long ball early in the fourth quarter, but at the 4:35 mark she went down with an injury and didn’t return. An Arielle Roberson put back cut the lead to 11, however MacArthur had offense coming from too many spots as they won 64-51. Jones led all scorers with 22, she was followed by Karmyn Jackson with 16, Ayriel Anderson with 12 and Khoria Newman with 11. Watkins led Wagner with 20, while Roberson added 11. I-Mac will play the Elsik vs Georgetown winner Saturday night.
