Sandra Meadows Classic attracts local flavor
CLEAR SPRINGS PAIGE TIPPET AND BROOKE MCCARTY
The Sandra Meadows Classic will once again have some local flavor as several area teams will be taking a road trip to Duncanville. In a world of “never say can’t” in girls basketball, anything is possible however possible and probable can sometimes be universe apart and the way that Duncanville was clicking, it’s going to be hard to defeat them as they defend their Sandra Meadows title however several teams from around here feel they have a shot.
Beaumont Ozen– Ozen is still trying to redeem themselves after a blowout loss to Barbers Hill last season the in regional finals. Led by Texas signee, Nekia Jones, Ozen has the personnel to do some damage
Bellaire-the Cardinals pulled off a huge surprise when they defeated Clear Springs in the Texas Invitational and gained a lot of confidence after hanging with the Pantherettes for a half in the “TI” championship. When you have TCU signee AJ Alix, “The Real Deal”, anything is possible
Clear Springs-They are still the best team in the area despite their loss to the Cardinals and probably have the best chance to matchup with Duncanville, at least from area teams. Texas commit Brooke McCarty might be” The Chosen One” however Clear Springs has many to choose from
The Woodlands-Kelsey Lang did a great job clogging up the middle and giving the Highlanders a lot on both ends however the Texas signee’s team wasn’t at full force at the “TI” with three starters out for various reasons. Stepping up to the plate were Nicole Iademarco and Katie Burke and with a full squad, who knows
Westside-Maddisen Turner is just flat out doing some amazing things in her young career at Westside and since they are the first team from these parts to win the Sandra Meadows, yes when my baby was there, they will compete to the bitter end
Cinco Ranch– The Cougars are doing what they set out to do with their early monster schedule and despite taking knocks, I have seen signs of improvement which will take them a long way in district play. Sydney “Big Play” Thomas has been huge so far this season and their offense revolves around how huge she plays
Atascocita and Westbury are also participating in the event, both were hit hard by losing key players from the 2012 class
