Plano West May Play Spoiler
Plano West finished second in the Sandra Meadows Classic to Duncanville. They are 15-2 and the only team to beat Duncanville this season. Their other loss came at the hands of Irving MacArthur (56-51) so if you think 2006 was the last time they would be considered contenders for a state championship, think again. Last season they made it to the Region 1 quarterfinals where they lost to eventual state champion Irving MacArthur (71-58) and if both teams win their districts again, it appears they are on a collision course to meet up at that same spot again this season.
Sandra Meadows Tournament Outstanding Offensive Player Paige Womack can knock shots down from anywhere on the court however the offense doesn’t stop there.Three other Lady Wolves, Randi Reinhardt, Ty Cox-Warren and Kiiran Lakhian, were named to the Sandra Meadows All-Tournament team and although Devri Owens wasn’t named to the all-tournament team, all four can score as well. This team brought pressure from baseline to baseline and to be honest with you I truly do believe they could win it all as well, beating Duncanville and Desoto, two legitimate state champion contenders says it all.
