Plano West hasn’t wrapped up R2 yet but
First of all let me go on record as saying that Plano West is the best team I’ve seen in R2 and only one of a handful of teams who can stay close to Duncanville. Not knocking on anyone else but this team is just that good and after watching their high octane style of play in “The Game”, I find adrenaline coming through my body just thinking about it.
The good news is none of that means anything and in a one game playoff, I’ve seen some crazy things happen and I always tell people you only have to be the best team that game. The Woodlands and Dekaney are probably the two best teams in our area from R2 with Klein Forest and Klein Collins close behind
Kelsey Lang and Nicole Iademarco are a potent offensive duo for the Highlanders not to mention Kori Dryer’s ability to knock them down as well as the solid play Emily Gauther showed in the Sandra Meadows Classic. Bright spots would have to be Kristin Mahoney who shows no signs of ever having a knee injury along with the improvement from Katie Burke, especially since the TI
Burke’s maturity was helped after being forced into the starting lineup back in November and after getting her feet wet against some of the top guards in the state; it has helped her improve not only her game but her confidence as well. Lang is simply a mismatch for just about any team in the state and at 6’5 showed her ability to take over when needed. Iademarco at 6’0 can launch em from just about anywhere on the court, that was never a problem and she’s added the ability to create along with steadily improving her defense
Can any of these area teams beat PW? We’ll soon find out
