OVO-Battle On The Plainz II-HS Champions
I guess what I enjoyed most about this squad was every game a new player showed they could take over a game offensively or just create a spark to start or change the momentum. As I close out my coverage of this well-put-together event, I’ll be covering another Indigenous HOOPS Leauge event July 27-30 in Centralia Washington because one more time, TALENT IS EVERYWHERE and here ya go
2023
Chloe Yeahque- Cantrell-5’11 (Anadarko) to say she put on a shooting exhibition to open up Saturday would be an understatement, in fact, she was one of the best shooters at the event. She’s already signed with SWOSU yet college coaches love big guards that can shoot and she will definitely do well. The mid to long-range, her ability to create her shot as well as the stop and pop in transition were all impressive but she’s also long and athletic, which is the base and she scored off the dribble also
Alexis Parker-6’0 (Riverside Indian School) has offers on the table and she showed why. Her hands and footwork around the basket JUST DID IT for me so let me drop the #THROWBACK hashtag. I was equally impressed that she finished not only around the basket but with either hand. She also scored off the dribble, as well as facing the basket for the short jumper. Her rebounding, on both ends of the court, was solid, and so was her defense, both in and outside the paint
2024
Karley Parker-5’6 (Riverside Indian School) was one of the most explosive guards at the event and her speed with the ball, SWB, especially in the open court was really nice. She saw the floor both in the set and in transition and her jumper, from mid to long-range was very nice. Her body control coupled with her first step got her to the rim to finish acrobatically at times, after contact and she also did a good job defending “on the ball”. To top it off, she did something I love to see and that’s “played the passing lane”
Leyla Saldana-5’6 (Anadarko) did a good job defending “on the ball” baseline to baseline but she also scored off the dribble and finished strongly. She created her shot, dropped the long ball as well as the midrange and she not handled the ball in the open court but she also saw the floor
Mya Tartsah-5’5 (Anadarko) showed she could score off the dribble and see the floor all through the event yet her “playing within herself” was key, as well as her “on the ball” defense. She also played the passing lane and handled the ball after the steal
2025
Ashlee Poolaw-5’9 (Anadarko) has some scary side because she understands something very important and that is “she finds ways to put the ball into the basket”. She scored on putbacks, she scored off the dribble and she dropped the mid to long-range jumper yet her body control and finishing strongly after contact was very nice. She also rebounded on both ends and went completely off in the championship game hitting clutch shots. She also applied heat on the defensive end
Lenaya Williams-5’5 (Anadarko) scored off the dribble and even showed she could create her shot, under pressure, and drop the midrange. She also hit the deep one but her scoring on putbacks against taller played was nice as she didn’t mind battling for rebounds
2026
Bobiey Parker-5’9 (Riverside Indian School) understands positioning is always a plus and her rebounding on both ends was nice, as was her showing nice moves around the basket. She did a good job defending inside the paint but showed her athleticism by defending on the perimeter
Juliana Thomas-5’4 (El Reno) scored off the dribble and also handled the ball in the open court but her ability to get hers “in the flow” was also nice. She did a good job seeing the floor as well as applying pressure baseline to baseline
